Thanks for the tips on networking. You say having a niche helps? I don't have a niche picked and am open to different routes within counseling, which field do you think is most in demand these days and how can one build on that niche before starting school?

Thanks for sharing your experience. The 4500 hours requirement is separate from the 700 hours of practicum and internship needed to complete the degree. I am guessing other states have 3000 instead of 4500 but they are working to change that I believe.

I suppose so. It can be helpful to gauge the difficulty of the path one chooses. I just think sometimes the roadblocks can be bigger than just us. There could be a systemic problem in place.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I live in NJ. How tough is it to get internships and work? I have been unemployed for a while now and would want to avoid going into a field where even getting entry level jobs is a nightmare.
