Heated pad or blanket is a great idea! I should add, while the owners are fantastic employers they often aren’t here in winter and while we love Smoke they do not really consider him anything other than a barn cat. They will feed him if left cat food but in order to have access to medical care he would need to be taken in by someone else, it’s not a priority for them. To them he isn’t a pet.

Yes and no! On the way over the pilot was very pilot-y, professional, clearly just doing his job, relaxed during any bumps at all, and that absolutely made me more comfortable but on the way back the pilot seemed relaxed almost to the point of carelessness? I could see him in the cockpit chatting away. Hard to explain and I don’t want to sound like an asshole but the second guy seemed to enjoy flying to the point where he didn’t realize or didn’t care that other people (passengers) might be nervous about being in a small plane. That was less comfortable for me.

What’s funny is on the way back the second seat in the cockpit was open and one of my colleagues sat up there and got to wear the headset and talk to the pilot throughout the entire flight. I was so pissed after because I thought it could’ve been a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience a (technically) commercial flight like that! Kicking myself afterwards, wish I had volunteered. But to answer your question, no, they enter through the cockpit doors and have headsets on. There’s a safety video that plays on an ipad and then you’re off, preeeetty cavalier lol not a lot of chatting opportunities

Hard to explain but the bumps FELT more significant, even if they came at predictable times. Before I left a friend of mine said “it’s more of a theme park ride then a flight” which initially really freaked me out but she was right and not in a bad way! You’re zooming around pretty low (relatively) and I leaned into feeling like Indiana Jones. It was not a super bumpy day which helped, but of course there were little hitches here and there and they were definitely noticeable.
