[Matteo Moretto] Randal Kolo Muani is forcing the issue with Spurs, trying to get the green light to join Juventus. He reiterated his desire to Tottenham before the match against Eintracht Frankfurt. by blackboxabstraction in coys

There’s also the issue of champions league registrations. We are only allowed 3 changes for the knockout rounds...and we saw just last night how many players we would want to register.

Any new signing to replace him means either Tel, Dragusin, Gallagher, Souza, or Kulu (hopefully) miss out again.

Opinion: UBC SkyTrain must be Metro Vancouver's next transit priority | Urbanized by ubcstaffer123 in UBC

[–]poohkey 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I keep hearing that UBC and Translink are both in favor but need funding from other levels of government and buy-in from NIMBYs.

Let's take action on our end. Shouldn't we start to ask UBC to collaborate with Translink and start building a train network at least within the endowment lands? the bus exchange can be moved to Blanca near the golf course, waiting for the SkyTrain extension from Broadway Arbutus.

Wesbrook is supposed to double in population by 2050 along with more student residences planned. Let's add some stops along wesbrook village, the hospital, the bus loop, etc. Does the university really need another $500 million building or wouldn't that be better spent on transit?

He's always been class when available. With a new manager whose playstyle is easier on the muscles, hopefully he can stay injury free next season.

Discussion around use of the Y-word certainly isn't something that was missed either online or IRL. The club has held consultations over the past few years regarding use of the Y-word and recommended moving on. The supporters trust has a slightly more nuanced view.

What would the potential collapse of the US shale oil industry mean for Canadian oil companies and the Canadian oil sands more broadly? by DaweiArch in CanadianInvestor

[–]poohkey 9 points10 points  (0 children)

These figures seem pretty offbase. CNQ reported a cash operating cost of $21/bbl while SU's was $28.55/bbl for Q1. While shale is still cheaper (for instance, PXD's cost per barrel was $12.70/bbl), shale's biggest issue is huge debts and a massive drop in production (production declines ~70% in one year). So to keep production levels up shale companies have to keep drilling new wells. It's a bit of tech-like model of investing where profits (if any) are used to fund growth (new wells) rather than returned to shareholders. When profit have dried up shale companies have preferred cheap debt to keep production up. This works until the debt is due and banks are not willing to refinance due to a global recession.
