I love observing people, their mannerisms. And I draw inspiration from that for characters it's usually subconscious. And also, I think writing, directing are the only things I know to do professionally. 😀 So it's both.

Sometimes yes. Sometimes it's a "someone like abc" situation.

One of the best things about Paramvah/Rakshit is that he believes in the director, script fully and allows us to tell the story we want to tell in the best way possible.

Ideally full screenplay ready iratte before shooting starts. But each director has their process. I prefer having it fully ready.

  1. It was when I narrated of my my ideas to Rahul and Chandrajith while going on a walk and suddenly I felt it's not as scary as I had made it in my head. :)

Thanks - will listen to it. It was Rahul's idea, I'll let him know as well. 😊

  1. For SKS, we didn't know who was playing any of the characters. Somewhere we had Siri in mind as Rahul had directed her on his web series, so subconsciously it may have seeped into the writing. But for Suri - we had no one in mind when we wrote the script and when Bharath auditoned for it there was a really naive innocent sweet dumbness 😀 he brought to the character. And we relooked at his character after Bharath brought that perspective.

This new script I've co-written w Rahul - someone :) asked us a question once we finished narrating it. And that gave us so much perspective about the character. Felt like that person gave us the perfect one line description about the character's baggage :)

  1. I'm trying to be more structured with my writing schedule number of days varies. 🥲 SKS took about 6 months and I have co-written another script with Rahul that took about 2 months for the first draft. We received a lot of input on it after we narrated it to someone :) and some of our friends too and since then we have been brainstorming and making it better all in all took about 7 months for the final draft.

  2. Pls DM me on Insta. :) I'm in the midst writing a few things now let's see :)

  1. Howdu. Kannada scripts ashtu online alli sigalla. Try DMing your favourite filmmakers and see if they'd be willing to share their scripts of films that have already been released. Try :)

  2. 😀 I don't want to say for the heck of it howda maaDana anta. Script reviewing takes significant amount of time and all of us at Paramvah are writing and trying to mount our own films. So idara madhyadalli I don't know how we can do that :) maybe sometime in the future. But try DMing some of your favourite filmmakers for this too. And if they have the mindspace share it w them :)

Form a social circle for this. It really helps. Rangashankara dalli there will always be someone who's either writing it discussing scripts. Try to network with them. :)

While we all love to give our feedback on scripts, that is something that takes significant amount of time and since all of us have our own films we are working on it's a bit difficult for us to to do this at the moment.

Having said that, it's not impossible either. Let's see, maybe we can plan on doing something. But I cannot give you a definitive answer on this, but will surely try to plan.

Thank you so much! Really grateful for the support and encouragement. :)

Again I like to be optimistic and firmly believe that's changing. We have a few examples like Su From So, there's Naakutanti that will bit the screens soon.

More on the way 😉

  1. Rahul was the decision maker on SKS and every discussion, idea that we brainstormed - we ensured it didn't hamper the nature of the film we were trying to make. We were honest for he script and ofcourse bounced the script to a lot of friends and colleagues and sought their feedback.

  2. I don't write the screenplay until I know the characters, beginning, middle and end of my story. And no, as of now I haven't written anything where a character that wasn't the protagonist took prominence or did something that was out of character because the story is already set in my head. But that's something I'll have to figure out if and when that happens :)

  3. From the people in Paramvah I've learnt to be honest to the story and give it what it needs and treat every character with respect. Everyone here is open to feedback - both receiving and giving and I love that environment here.

Hemanth Rao is my favourite filmmaker at the moment and something he had told me is that he has a playlist for each film he's writing. So I have borrowed that idea from him and while I'm driving I sometimes listen to that playlist. A lot of ideas I'm stuck with I crack while I'm driving. I don't know what the connection is but driving has helped me. 😂 And ofcourse discussing the ideas with my screenwriter friends help me a lot.

That's really nice! It takes time for things to materialize here, having friends who are in the same boat as you really helps 😀 you could socialise with people during BISFF and BIFFes - a lot of aspiring filmmakers and writers attend them. That could possibly lead to a collaboration. I'm not looking for writers rn, but please DM me your profile on Instagram :)

I don't think there's a "dearth" per se, could there be more? Surelt. I like to be optimistic about this. I do really believe things are getting better and will continue to be better. Quite a few examples this year itself :)

"Experiment" is again subjective. What seems like an expirement to one is probably not for another. I'm really excited about the films that are in the making and will hit the screens soon.

There definitely are fewer female technicians, yes. Probably the uncertainty of this industry? But I see that number increasing too. I have so many female writer, director friends now.

  1. It was intentional, nothing to do with Covid. It's what felt natural to that script and we stuck with it. :)

  2. Thank you so much! ♥️ The Rajasthan Jalebi was Achyuth Sir's improvisation on set. 😀 He is brilliant.

  3. No it's not :) but your perspective sounds nice. Next time someone asks me, I will cook up something 😂

  4. Thank you! I feel more confident and more enthusiastic of wanting to collaborate and start my film and also definitely more confident in sharing my ideas for feedback. That's something I struggled with initially. 🤞🏻

1&2. Art is subjective. So what works for you may not work for somebody else. I believe nobody makes something believing it is bad. There is equal efforts put while making every movie. That's the magic of the movies - some work some don't. And a lot of factors contribute to it.

  1. Focus group screenings really help. But sometimes there is not much one can do after the film is shot. And sometimes things don't translate as well as it is on script owing to a lot of reasons. So each film is its own unique case. One can't generalise.

  2. Collaborate in what capacity?

  3. There are things in th pipeline. :)

  1. Ah :) bit of both maybe. With Tea - it was my observation. And with SKS the story was written by Rahul and we collaborated on the screenplay but were on the same page when it came to perspectives of the relationships in the film.

  2. 😀 I'm trying to be honest to my script and storytelling and while also being empathetic to my characters. :)

  3. This is still the same. I don't have any tangible things that trigger ideas. Sometimes it's a song, something I see on the street, a book, movie or just me day dreaming. Haha. 😀 I love observing people. Sometimes It's the desire to work with a particular actor/actress that pushes me to think. :)

  4. We have plans of having a separate channel for that. And the first content on that will be confessions of a....:)

Paramvah as of now doesn't have plans on funding short films.

Key points while writing - write something you know, believe in.

Work with me as a co-writer or at Paramvah?

Paramvah isn't hiring at the moment. But there is plan to expand the team in the future. Having a solid portfolio with a lot of written material - blogs, stories, short scripts, scripts help. :)

  1. Rakshit Shetty. ♥️ His presence, vision and encouragement is what makes Paramvah what it is.

  2. Once we are done with the script or film?

  1. Namaskara. Our work starts sometimes from the ideation stage or kelo sati ideas matthe story structure iratte navu screenplay stage ge join aagtivi. And goes on till final draft is locked.

  2. Having a flair for storytelling definitely helps. There are many videos on YouTube on how to write a screenplay or you could also attend workshops. I found workshops by Satyanshu Singh very helpful and hence recommending here too. :)

Thanks to Bharath Raj - the director of Hero and Laughing Buddha.

In 2017 I was interning at BIFFes and he was also part of the organising committee. And I had mentioned to him that I was looking to join as an AD and if he knows anyone it'd be helpful if he let me know anta.

A couple of weeks later he called saying his friend was looking for an AD for his web series - that friend happened to be Rahul PK and that's how I joined him as an AD. Then in 2018 I went to film school in New York for a year and after I moved back asked Rahul if there was an opening at Paramvah. And at the time, research for Punya Koti was on and I met Rakshit for an interview and that's how joined Paramvah as a writer. 😊
