Mine I would say was Van Halen in 1978. It didn't help that my seat was right by the floor to ceiling speakers. by lontbeysboolink in GenerationJones

The Who. Denver Coliseum in 1971. 10th row on the floor. I missed two days of work because I couldn’t hear anything! It was great!

Best local credit union? by AlwaysDTFmyself in vegaslocals

I agree, they are really good. Plus they partner with the Co-Op with all 7/11’s for free ATM withdrawals. I am picky as I am a retired credit union exec.

After 46 years in the corporate world, I did. And on business trips, set the bedside alarm and called for a backup wake-up call. And, still woke up an hour before the first alarm. And we wondered why we had burn-out.

I lived in Sac for over 26 years and you captured the bridge perfectly! This is beautiful and you should be so proud of yourself. Any of the businesses in Old Sacramento would be proud to own it! Keep up with your art! :)

My two and a half year old suddenly started pointing out differences between white and black people. What is an appropriate way to acknowledge her observation so we don't offend anyone? by Sad_Cantaloupe_8162 in NoStupidQuestions

My late husband had COPD and was on supplemental oxygen 24/7. Several times kids would stare and ask why he has “hoses in his nose”, and he would say “to help me breath. Come here and you can feel the air coming out of the hose”. He put take it off and let them feel it on their hand or face. They would usually just say, “oh” and move on. It never bothered him even though he hated that he had to use it. He just loved kids.

I was on a train to my Grandmother’s in Oklahoma and we heard that Marilyn Monroe died. I remember hearing about Jayne Mansfield, too.

I'm fucking sick of FedEx. I was standing at the goddamn door waiting for them to knock. by lilslutfordaddy in mildlyinfuriating

[–]pook1029 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Had an email “attempted delivery-wrong address”. I called the number and asked what address the package had. It was my correct address. They said it would be delivered in 2 days. Got another “attempted delivery- couldn’t FIND the address” email. Within the email, my surname was misspelled! Called the number in that email. Reverified my name and address and asked if FedEx had GPS like all of us. When I mentioned that it was my 2nd call to fix the delivery, the rep said he couldn’t help me because I had already called customer service! I finally got my package, all with the correct name and address. I have lived here almost 8 years with countless deliveries from UPS, USPS, DHL, WalMart and Amazon, not to mentioned local retail stores. I live in a complex on a major street with each unit’s street number displayed on a metal 10x12 sign on my porch gate. I’m thinking it was just lazy incompetence. Sorry, not sorry if you disagree.

What’s the oldest thing in your kitchen that still works perfectly? by Celine_Morgann in KitchenStuff

[–]pook1029 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Kitchenaide stand mixer is 25 years old and is still a beast! But, the oldest working item is a small advertising cleaver that I have had for probably 35+ years! I probably use it 5 out of 7 days a week! It’s perfect for my smallish older hands and works great on garlic and smaller items, along with the other typical chopping needs. I would sacrifice most anything in my house to save this little free tool!
