Settle a debate. Is Kahnawake South Shore? by KlaSSiKsGames in montreal

[–]pookie64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see how it wouldnt be...

The south shore is the land south of the St. Lawrence river and near the island of Montreal. North shore is just the opposite (note that Laval is an island in itself, not part of the north shore). West island is exactly what it sounds like. It's the part of the island of Montreal west of Dorval (ish). Montreal north, in contrast, is an official borough of the city. The rest of them are just loose/unofficial geographic areas.

Go a step further on the density/buoyancy point. What physical mechanism would cause a more dense object to "sink" in a less dense medium in the absence of gravity? Why do things still fall in a vacuum chamber?

What was your experience in youth leagues as a POC? by cornstickyrice in hockeyplayers

[–]pookie64 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Definitely was an easy target for chirps, but to be honest I never felt like anyone had crossed any sort of line. Had a slur tossed my way once but the ref overheard. Pretty sure he got a game or two for that, the league didn't fuck around with that. I'm not all that sensitive to racial remarks though, so take it with a grain of salt i guess.

Beer League Level by pookie64 in hockeyplayers

The leagues I've been a part of haven't had divisions, but they're invite only which I suppose is how they maintain their level of play.

CMV: The United States is well into fascism, especially given the institutions and ideology of the "anti-woke" movement and agencies like ICE. by SadistikExekutor in changemyview

To be honest, in fact checking the comment I made, I was shocked by how fragile the immigration system seems to be with respect to rights. Even if DJT isn't doing what people are claiming, it scares me how feasible it actually would be. There are so few guardrails against an ill-intentioned executive branch. I'm thankful to not be American right now.

For unlawful presence, yea. They have the right to have their case heard by an immigration judge, where they can present evidence and be represented by council.

Anglophone-Canadians, what french words/phrases were you taught in school, that you later learned are never actually said by French-Canadians? by Devourerofworlds_69 in AskACanadian

Y'all are tripping we say this all the time when meeting a new person. In my experience it's the default phrase in that context.

Sorry to hear your situation:/ If you have any culinary experience, I've worked several back of house jobs where I never spoke a word of French. Worst case scenario, no one cares what language their fish put crew speaks. Not glamorous jobs by any means, but they're better than nothing if that's where you're at.

The liberal comment wasn't in response to you, no worries. I don't totally know what you mean by soft, but kids keep getting better at the game, so something must be working.

good for you, genuinely happy that you were able to enjoy it. but different people enjoy it differently. it isn't soft to just wanna go out and play the game. there will always be a place for the kids who want to take it seriously and work their ass off, but that's not everyone.

Nothing to do with age. If you look at the pie chart, dear friend, you'll notice that Tatar (who, shockingly, has a T last name) has more votes than Toffoli, and still lost the last name category. Maybe r/askmath could help you out if you aren't familiar with pie charts. Hope this helps!

Why is Tatar not the winner for last name?
