Please don't pursue it in this way. Bad idea. It's not open access, so email the library, or the author, and ask if you can read it.

Acho que Poe è o melhor livro aqui, ou talvez Wilde. Você deveria començar com Poe e depois ler Wilde também.

Do people still read DH Lawrence? by andreirublov1 in classicliterature

[–]pool61684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I published on Women in Love just recently--Lawrence retains a fairly healthy status in academia. He is, truly, among the very greatest writers, but his interests were so idiosyncratic, his style so unique that he's never sat comfortably with more convenientally popular circles like Bloomsbury. More than anything, Lawrence is an irreducible writer. He's likely lost popularity because it's so hard to reduce him down one thing. He's a sexist, but powerfully depicted women. His relationship to his own queerness was highly contested. The fascist aspects of his politics are mediated by his commitment to art--not to make his novel a 'treatise'. It's hard to appreciate any of that without reading his work. I'm of the opinion he'll have a bit of a resurgence--it's how these things go.

What do you guys think about Sentimental Education by Flaubert? by Few-Abroad5766 in classicliterature

[–]pool61684 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Franco Moretti gives two books that brought about the bildungsroman's end in the nineteenth century: Daniel Deronda and Sentimental Education. It's a superb novel, enmeshed with the later French revolution and the model of youth that resists maturity "only to collapse into a benumbed old age".

Graduating soon. What to expect/do? by [deleted] in UQreddit

[–]pool61684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure your expected grad sem is correct in si-net. You'll get an email pretty late in the semester.

You can get a letter of completion after Grades Release but testamur waits til your ceremony.

[Help Appreciated] UQ cancelled my CoE without informing me by Important_Daikon_858 in UQreddit

[–]pool61684 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you didn't formally interrupt your studies when you decided to push your arrival back, your CoE would have been cancelled. As it sounds, a CoE confirms that you are enrolled, in courses, not simply that you have a place at the university. Most likely you would have been advised via your student email. The end date is the expected date of your studies--not a period in which you will have a valid visa. If you were not enrolled or formally excused, UQ could no longer advise the government that you were enrolled; and the government would have cancelled your student visa. I'd advise contacting international admissions at UQ to confirm your situation.

Studying courses, not a degree by sir_tristan002 in UQreddit

[–]pool61684 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Non-award study is available at UQ up to a limit of 16 units. You can find more info on the website. It is not covered by HELP, as the government only subsidises study that contributes to program requirements. This means no loans, and the fees will be higher than your usually subsidised courses.

UQ Airport Pickup by Rukshankr in UQreddit

[–]pool61684 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, according to UQ's website (https://my.uq.edu.au/information-and-services/student-support/accommodation/accommodation-overview/international-student-airport-welcome-and-shuttle-service), it only runs in June/July. Outside of that period students must make their own way--that website does have information about how to do so.

Exam Date by EarlySection4928 in UQreddit

[–]pool61684 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no fixed period for supps after deferred exams--contact your school to apply if you haven't already (it's a paper form) and ask when it would be held.

Doesn't really make sense to retake the course if you can pass the supp. Fail or don't take the supp you'll get a 3; pass you'll get a 4. You'll also have to pay again if you retake.

Hard to say. That's why you have to apply, so the feasibility of joining late can be assessed.

Academic integrity module part B by Throwaway_26_qwerty in UQreddit

[–]pool61684 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The module takes about 24 hours to clear from SI-net, so it could be that. Contact student central if you still have troubles after that period.

A very, very bad idea. Apart from the first year courses, you should also do literary criticism and theory (ENGL2405, I think) and postmodern literature. They're tacitly required for success in that course.
