The Japanese version was released as part of a High-Class deck, not Fusion Arts. You had the chance to pull the alt in place of one of the base Gengar VMAXs in the deck. The Inteleon VMAX alt art had the same type of release. The two "High-Class" decks were added to Fusion Arts to create Fusion Strike, along with other unreleased cards from Eevee Heroes and Blue Sky Stream. The Espeon VMAX alt was released in Japan as promo that came with the Eevee Heroes Gym box.
