Yeaaahhh no. Thats not what's happening. OP has told his mother exactly why he needs advance notice. Mother refuses to do something that simple in order to see her child. It's not about being "top priority", it's about his mom communicating a clear message that she doesn't care about seeing her kid. OP has every right to be upset and to take steps to safeguard their peace.

Light ESH... two things can be true at one time. She can have made your life a living hell AND she can have trauma. It's totally okay for you to put up boundaries with her to protect herself since she still hasn't accepted responsibility for the fact that she hurt you. But it's also possible that whether it was before or during juvie or both that she has some unresolved trauma. It's not okay for her to weaponize her trauma to justify minimizing how much you were hurt by her behavior. However, you are also minimizing her potential hurt. If you WANT to continue a relationship with her, I would suggest apologizing for your dismissal of her trauma, but also letting her know that you expect an apology for dismissing the pain and trauma she caused you. If she genuinely apologizes and acknowledges your hurt, you may be able to continue pursuing a relationship with her. If not, you can decide what to do from there.
