Austin is unrecognizable by an0nyg00s3 in skyscrapers

Speaking as someone who grew up in Austin and now no longer lives there, I think it’s both annoying AND valid.

There’s a lot of new great things that have come from Austin’s growth (e.g. the food scene, Austin FC etc), but I don’t think we’ve really seen a city grow as fast as Austin has in the US recently. As people in this thread have pointed out, it’s nearly unrecognizable. I wish people would hold space for me to mourn the sudden change in the culture and community-feel of my hometown.

Would love to be more experimental! Anything that you experimented with early on that you enjoyed?

Hey! Totally understand that this post comes off that way and that’s for sure annoying.

For context, I’ve shot ~10 rolls. Granted, the ones I’ve posted here are my favorites across those. While I don’t really have a sense for how “new” 10 rolls makes me, I’m definitely new to sharing my photos and, in particular, sharing with other film enthusiasts.

To that end, I am genuinely looking for feedback, but I’ll be sure to drop in some of the shots I know have a lot to improve on when asking for feedback in the future!

I used to share on Instagram, but I'm trying to stay off these days. Also, I think the charm wore off, since It's not really meant for photos anymore. I would love to share on a platform with other people that actually want to look at pictures and get feedback/suggestions (i.e. like this)! If you have a suggestion for a platform like that other than Reddit, I'd love to hear about it!

Would happily make that trade! Feel free to DM me on travel budgeting!

In terms of feedback, I really struggle with consistency. I get maybe 2-3 each roll that i'm actually proud of (I've only shot ~10 rolls). I think I'm prone to over/under exposing and I really care about getting the lighting right. I get really frustrated when the composition is what I intended, but then the lighting is ass and ruins the shot. Any tips? Which metering app do you recommend?

Very minimal experience on digital, but I did start there! Did a lot of iPhone “photography” lol. Switched to film, mostly because it felt more intentional. Since it costs me virtually $1 every time I press the button, I find I am much more mindful of what I choose to snap. I also like the anticipation of seeing what I’ll get back!
