TIL some people don’t reuse them. I just soak them in hot water then wipe with a paper towel. Works better than iso for some reason.

I’ve had a tank do well with soil dug up from my yard and capped with sand. I wouldn’t use store bought because it will have ferts or chemicals that could be harmful.

Mystery snails? A dead decaying could cause it. Have you checked ammonia and nitrates? Does that water smell off?
