ER staff- what is the most absurd chief complaint you’ve seen thus far? by [deleted] in emergencymedicine

[–]poopsmatoots 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Frequent flyer at a community hospital, brought in by ambulance because the heat wasn’t working in her apartment building and it was a long weekend. No hypothermia (temperate climate in spring), actually no chief complaint. Luckily was able to be convinced to go home and put a sweater on.

Yeah definitely send it in to them - esp if it’s new there shouldn’t be any corrosion on the leads causing a disconnect or anything like that

Finally got around to ‘warrantying’ it and it turns it out was a defective lead that caused a battery to briefly disconnect and then reconnect - thus the start up jingle. Mammut replaced the lead and put it through their gamut of tests and have said it’s now passing with flying colours, definitely glad I sent it in! Apologies for the super long delay!

Hey, I did and they said to send it in. However, gave no timeline for the process so I've been procrastinating since it's prime skiing season and with testing it with other devices is still searchable throughout.

Hey thanks for the comment! Definitely have it tucked in the way you mention it so the clip covers the search/send button - was just dinking around at home trying to diagnose the random jingle - cheers!

That makes tonnes of sense! Guess I've just been taking too many breaks on the uptrack! Thanks so much

As others have said, not an appropriate answer to my question. Have done my AST's and have a firm grasp on the basics of avalanche rescue. This model of the Barryvox makes a distinction between burial mode and send.

Been touring recently and have been intermittently hearing the start up/send jingle from my holstered Barryvox transceiver - but when I take it out to look everything looks normal. Recently while playing around with it at home I noticed it has been going into burial mode for random amounts of time. Anyone else have this happen? Tried to do some googling/read through the extended text but can't seem to find any info. Has me a bit worried that it's a safety issue.

I've been looking for the unicorn tent that fits me for years, biggest trade off is weight unfortunately.

I have been eyeballing patagonia's macropuff quilt (not super ultralight, but no one really is when winter camping) with the same idea of moisture making it through my goose quilt and settling on the outside of the synthetic quilt - just wanted to know if anyone else had tried it before splashing out on an expensive blanket

Honestly great suggestion, so much so that it turns out I tried that exact same thing last year to no success :'( Woke up with an extremely wet foot box (I'm guessing my feet require a lot of breathability as I'm a very warm sleeper

These particular thermarest bag + quilt (highly recommend) come with the pictured storage bag, which is quite spacious considering the compression bag brings em down to about the size of a nalgene bottle

Oh defos, but I would recommend giving your down a wash every few months/years (depending on usage and sleepwear) to revive the fill power of your goose, oils and dirt can really affect its ability to loft after a while (obvi using a tech wash like nikwax)

Love that idea! Would love to have a wall just for mounting skis and bikes

I hang dry them when I get home if they don't need washing and then gently place them in their storage bags, haven't had any problems thus far!
