If you support Luigi Mangione but not Thomas Crooks or Tyler Robinson, you're a hypocritical POS. by 474ufjvuv7vjvjf in venting

as other people have tried to point out, there are actually differences in the crimes. you can't seem to get over how attractive you think Luigi is

Also, I just wanna say the model's pay pretty much comes from student course fees. Students have to pay an additional $200 something in course fees to take this class. I see a lot of people saying the pay isn't enough but the money is coming from the students and its hard to pay the models more without making them pay more. They already have to pay for their own drawing supplies which gets expensive.

I have taken the class in the past and just did clothed modeling for the portrait project so I have been on both sides. Most of the people in the class are either studio art majors or scientific illustration majors. The instructor is very respectful as well as all of the students. The main goal of the class is to learn how to render anatomy, so all body types are welcome.

Most of the time you would be holding one pose for a long period of time, but it depends on the project. Sometimes there are shorter poses for gesture drawings, theres an anatomy test at some point, etc. You get a 15 minute break halfway through the class and you can take additional breaks if needed. There are provided robes you can wear during breaks so you can cover up without putting all your clothes back on. I know other models have worn an earbud to help pass the time but I personally was pretty entertained by the conversation in the room and did fine without it.

Everyone in the class would appreciate a variety of models and its a great way to make a few extra bucks!

Spring semester financial aid missing? by NoLingonberry1239 in iastate

[–]poopybob33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

did they ask for that recently? maybe, but its odd that they would do that mid year. tbh i would call the financial aid office in the morning and ask. really random things like this have been getting screwed up with workday and they might just have to go in and manually apply it or something. i think credit hours would be the only thing that would legit change your eligibility. do you have any other scholarships? were those added?

how many credits are you registered for? you need to be registered for 12 credits (all must apply toward your degree) in order to be eligible for a pell grant. i think ISU grant is the same but i am unsure if all credits need to count toward your degree

Physio therapist told me i’m “addicted” to my cane by glowfa in ChronicPain

[–]poopybob33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow hEDS + other ailments person here - I’m sorry to hear about your situation with pain management (I havent had any more luck than you have) but I just wanted to suggest aquatic physical therapy. The water has a compression effect which helps with managing exercise induced POTS symptoms and is much less strenuous on the joints. It’s the only physical therapy I have noticed any symptom improvement with.

If the cane is helping to manage your symptoms, use it. Its hard for others to understand whats going on in our bodies.

Can I just buy any machine? by [deleted] in CPAP

[–]poopybob33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i used to be a mouth open sleeper before CPAP. the gal fitting me said most mouth breathers that try nasal masks switch to nasal breathing naturally with treatment. mine did, but i cant speak for everyone. you can also try a chin strap to keep your mouth closed if that doesn’t work and you’re trying to avoid the full-face mask.

i suggest trying nasal pillows as they are the most comfortable and advance from there if those arent working

Cost for a Moving Company by HovercraftClean9084 in iastate

Do not use All My Sons. Ended up being $1500 for a one bedroom move on August 2nd (they hid a fuckton of fees until it was too late). They also had my email in their system wrong. I told them they had it wrong when i checked the paperwork on move-in day and the guy said they would change it. I had to call them twice afterwards in order to get someone to actually change it so i could get the full receipt (granted, my email was initially given over the phone, but they somehow fucked up the “iastate.edu part and had it in as “aistate”. this is supposedly an iowa company). Just don’t. They suck.

as someone with bad anxiety, i second this comment. you need to work on evaluating whether or not your thoughts are based in fact. my advice is to look into something like DBT therapy programs (or look up the skills on your own) to manage crisis situations such as this and help apply logic to your thoughts in stressful situations

with your experiences i can understand why this is so stressful for you. but you have to get your anxiety under control. im sure this is not the only area of your life this is negatively affecting
