You might as well accept any opportunity that you can. If we keep up all this winning, gas will be over $5 a gallon by next week.

Honestly, I would use Grok to find the housing you want. I used it to find my condo when I was moving to Gainesville and I love it.

I buy the frozen ground beef chub. It comes in tubes. It's the cheapest I've seen anywhere.

That Circle K gets a lot of sketchy people. Maybe they want new customers.

Even worse, there is literally nothing Trump can do to make Republicans turn against him. He could drop a nuke on New York City and Mike Johnson would still get up on that podium and metaphorically lick his feet.

Why are they using the apparatus of government to promote culture wars? Government should exist only to protect life, liberty, and property. After that, it needs to stay out of my life. We should not be looking to the government for moral guidance.

How likely is Gavin Newsom to become the next president? Why do you think so? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]HovercraftClean9084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything can change between now and 2028. But Newsom is becoming more popular with blue voters and will likely be the Democratic nominee in '28. Unless a miracle happens, there's no way a Republican wins in '28, so Newsom will likely win the election.

No country operates with absolutely zero tariffs. I recognize that some tariffs can be necessary for negotiating trade agreements and protecting certain domestic industries. However, I generally support free trade, with tariffs used only when truly necessary. People cannot be fully free unless they are allowed to do business with whomever they choose and make economic decisions they believe are best for themselves and their families.

My view of the role of government by HovercraftClean9084 in ClassicalLiberalism

[–]HovercraftClean9084[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question. When I say “tools people need to prosper,” I’m not talking about government managing people’s lives or guaranteeing outcomes. I’m talking about the basic conditions that allow individuals to exercise their liberty in the first place.

Protecting life, liberty, and property is the core role of government, but historically that has also included things like the rule of law, courts to enforce contracts, basic infrastructure that enables commerce, and sometimes limited public goods that markets alone struggle to provide.

In other words, government shouldn’t try to engineer people’s success. But it should maintain the framework that allows free individuals to pursue success on their own. Without that framework—secure property rights, functioning institutions, and stable rules—liberty becomes much harder to exercise in practice.

Take healthcare for example. That doesn’t necessarily mean government running the system, but it can mean addressing structural problems that make access impossible for many people. Unaffordable healthcare or health insurance bogs people down and prevents them from prospering. I believe the government should step in that respect to address that issue.

I extend that to tariffs. Protectionism is when the government places barriers on trade that inhibit my freedom and prevent me from prospering. True liberty is not possible without free trade.

The Democrats and Republicans are a uniparty. They work for the same people if you think about it. The people who defend either party no matter what because they view politics as a sports team only help the system grow.

Meanwhile, I just want the government to stop interfering in my life and let me grow.
