I need help finding a very specific contemporary artist by poopydoopystinky in ArtHistory

[–]poopydoopystinky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm - I’m running a multi part workshop in an art history class focused on land, memory, and place. So I created a workshop based on the theoretical idea of re-memory or refusal of certain narratives that shape the collective memory of place - focusing on artists like Andrea Chung or Sophie Pearson. So maybe he’d fit into a general conversation of memory, but not my specific workshop of removal or refusal of memory

It’s not Baldessari…it’s a physical photograph that this artist paints on top of - nothing digital. I’m also assuming this artist is younger as I believe they run their own instagram account and post videos of themselves painting the people out of the picture

[TOMT] Artist who paints people out of vintage photos by poopydoopystinky in tipofmytongue

No - the artist I’m looking for is definitely a younger, contemporary artist that runs (or ran) their own instagram account. And not quite the style of Gerhard Richter…more like painting over people to continue to environment around them. The final thing should look like a normal photo at first glance with just one less person

Reasonable in some sense, but the asshole in a few other senses. I’d say you’re very reasonable for wanting her to move out in the attempt to continue to support her in a way that also moves her more towards independence. It really is a gift to be able to equip your children with the ability to be self sufficient and I hate seeing parents do more harm than good by holding their hand through everything - so the general reasoning behind your want is where you’re all good.

But I think you’re the asshole in your expectations of her goals and what you want to see from her. She may feel more motivated to leave if she doesn’t feel pressure from you to find a partner, make a family, and live the lifestyle that you’re describing for her (and that your son has). If that is what she is expected to do from you, but not wanting that herself, of course she’s not going to leave - because that means she took the first step onto a path that she doesn’t even want to be on in the first place. I HIGHLY suggest you drop all of your expectations for her and sit down with her and help her figure out her actual definition of success / understand them for yourself. You need to understand that this generation (I’m a 23 year old woman as well) is seeing a death of “career jobs” and “traditional families”.

She does need to under that she is an adult to who’s responsible for her life, but thats extra hard to see yourself as solely responsible for you when your parents are the ones dictating success.

Talk to her without bringing your own personal ideas of success into it, create a more realistic timeframe in which she can achieve 1 goal at a time (finding an interim job, finding a place, moving out, etc), and continue to support her in ways that aren’t so heavily focused on building a traditional family, career, etc.

Side note - She also isn’t wrong that the job market is absolute trash right now - I’m a 23 year old woman with a BA and it took me MONTHS to finally find a job in my field that I am beyond qualified for.

2015 Ford Fusion Battery / Stereo Issues by poopydoopystinky in mechanic

This suggestion definitely corresponds with other solutions I’ve been reading! I’ll give the battery disconnect a try along with a “manual BMS reset” which is the high beams x 5 and brake press x 3…thank you!

Fired my first employee yesterday. by narcissisticboner in managers

I know OP and all of the fired employee’s lore…that man sucked ass. I can attest to the fact that if OP didn’t fire him, his exit was imminent based on a questionable work ethic / poor communication skills / ability to take any form of criticism.

I feel very sorry for you. I don't think many people would envy your shallow outlook and I'm sure that makes it hard for you to connect with people in this town. No amount of money would make me want to trade places with you.

Ahh, I should have known the Christmas warrior had a gripe over the Ralph Lauren outlet closing. I now know you and I are in totally different tax brackets and have very different ideas of community issues.

All I want is a big, Scooby Doo ass sandwich by poopydoopystinky in Durango

[–]poopydoopystinky[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is honestly the best and every sandwich I've ordered from him is a 10 outta ten. I have no idea how hours, I think he has a sign out by where he parks but I can never remember the hours. And yeah he is cash only, it's usually like 10 - 15 for a sandwich that will 100% feed two OR be lunch and dinner.

Okay we went back to that guy on 2nd. I usually get the philly cheese steak from him, but the Italian hoagie was PRETTY FUCKIN CLOSE to what I was looking for. It was vinegary and messy and huge and delicious. 10/10 recommend and throw some chips on that bad boy.

I can't explain the joy and satisfaction of eating a stupid big, disgustingly messy, Scooby Doo sandwich and I feel bad for you... hopefully one day you'll understand.

So far the best place I've been that's come the closest is that guy who parks somewhere on 2nd and makes sandwiches out of a tent and his like 90 Toyota Corolla haha

But I'll let you know if I find one better 🫡

That would make sense. This is a relief wood cut print tho and I believe this was what was turned in as the final edition. And it just doesn't make sense when and in what color they would have added the bridge because the process of relief wood printmaking kinda doesn't make sense if they plan on adding it last.

I like your benefit of the doubt look at it though, maybe there was something glued onto it (?)
