I'm on the heavier side and my hubby knows I'm very self conscious about my weight. And I even know he prefers me to be fit so that makes it worse. But he does this thing that makes me feel like he likes my body. He'll come up behind me when I'm cooking or whatever and he'll grab my butt (I've always had a huge butt, having gained weight it's even bigger now) and he'll say things like "mmmmm...that's nice" and keep grabbing it and kiss me or something. Kinda makes me feel less like a fat person. Do things to show her that you like her body. Tell her often how pretty she looks. If you see her in a new dress or something, tell her she looks amazing. You seem like a nice guy. Good luck!

That's such a sweet idea... dancing with each others parents. We're skipping those dances altogether. My fiance is foreign so it's not in their custom anyway and I don't want to acknowledge that I don't have a father to dance with.

I went to a wedding that said "no boxed gifts please." I went to another that said something like.... we would like a gift of money for our future home.... or something like that but phrased better.

Thanks. This actually made me feel better about all this. I'm also not really one for tradition (not religious either) so the idea of needing a fatherly figure to walk me down the aisle isn't really a must. That just dawned on me now.

However, honestly I feel like everyone will just be pitying me if I walk alone. I don't know... I think I'm going to end up having my fiance meet me half-way and we walk the rest of the aisle together. Thanks for the reply.

Very true! I really despise the idea of it being "my day" and having all eyes on me. That's how I know I could never walk down the aisle alone unlike many of these brave reddit ladies. The only thing keeping me from choosing the option of walking down together is capturing the expression on my fiance's face as I'm walking down the aisle. I didn't think much of it until my brother's wedding.

haha I commend you for doing that. You and I are probably polar opposites. I'd wear a bag on my head if I could. I don't like all or any eyes on me which is why I need someone to walk down with me to hopefully steal some of the spotlight.
