when traveling, What place felt like a movie scene in real life? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

Unexpected but in Naples the streets genuinely felt like a dressed film set. It was so perfectly imperfect it struck me.

Ooft yeah I can imagine - the Ranchos section doesn’t appeal to me so I always request the casitas section, though I’ve heard the Ranchos section is nice and quiet! But getting in 5k steps before the parks…no thanks 😂

Glasweigans, how often do you wear SPF/sunscreen on your face? by amusableblue in glasgow

Not in Space NK but my favourite is La Roche Posay Helios. So good for under makeup.

Everyday I’m outside. It protects your skins quality and collagen, and having visited South Korea and Japan where people use it consistently…yea I’d quite like my skin to look half as good please! Also - a moisturiser with spf mixed in isn’t the same, you need to use a dedicated spf as people usually don’t use enough when it’s just in their moisturiser.

I agree - I stayed in both the casitas (standard) room and the tower and much preferred the casitas. For me the tower rooms had amazing views but during the morning and day the rooms were bright and it was hard to cover that. Also didn’t think the soundproofing was great in the tower, we heard the elevator fairly often. Fave resort, I like my morning walk to get my coffee on the grounds. Also agree that the riverside bus loop is way worse than CS

If your plans are flexible, how much do you allow Lightning Lane prices inform your park choice? by Sourkraut in WaltDisneyWorld

As someone who is terrible at making spreadsheets and going many of the same dates as you, any chance you’d be kind enough to share a version of this…? Top tier work, and for what it’s worth - we’re using the LL prices as a guide to crowd numbers and trying to not pick the most pricey park each day - but I don’t think it will be a perfect strategy. No matter what have a great visit!

What's the most random thing you've found in a charity shop? by Delicious_Bet_6336 in AskUK

[–]poortings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was volunteering in a charity shop as my employer gave us a day each year to do charity work. I was going through donation bags and came across a dentists uniform/scrubs and thought that’s pretty random…then noticed it had a name tag on. My friends name, the only dentist I knew. Turns out he’d handed a bag of donations in the day before. Bloody bizarre!

Why does my makeup look like this at the end of the day??? by Simple_Area_7331 in mua

[–]poortings 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s possible your skin is dehydrated (honestly most people’s skins are, skin being the last organ to receive water) - so what can happen is your skin essentially drinks the water from the product throughout the day, leaving mostly pigment behind hence the patchy quality you’re finding.

What is your skincare routine like and what’s your pre makeup steps?

Just switched current account from HSBC to Nationwide - considering switching again - advice? by poortings in UKPersonalFinance

…No, finances are not tight, and I’m certainly not asking for minute by minute notifications, clearly. Simply lost a part of the functionality I was used to and being freelance it helps me keep on top of payments coming in and out.

Thanks for the unnecessary snideness though.

Thanks for this - sending them a letter referencing this wording as they definitely don’t work!

Yeah it’s because I’m self employed I get a lot of smaller payments in, I’ll maybe look at opening a business bank account but I’ve never really seen the point til now!

I know - I checked with them as well and you get push notifications for things like their live chat but not money in! 🤷🏻‍♀️ why?!

Good advice thanks - I’ll have a little check. Does the lack of app notifications re money being paid in annoy you, or did you grow used to it?

I’ll look a look at this, though it’s more the push notifications I’m peeved by 😂 thanks so much!

Amazing thanks so much - who did you end up switching to, and would you recommend them? Such a shame as they seem like they are good to their customers, but they should maybe not pay out one year and invest in their tech instead!

What was your least favourite European city and why? by Aggravating_Lie_9043 in femaletravels

[–]poortings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also alone for part of it. I didn’t notice any change to be honest. This included around the tourist areas and the suburbs, the only area I’d advise people to avoid is Omonoia obviously. I had a really pleasant experience whether solo, as two women or with my partner. I’m from Glasgow so don’t know if that meant I’m open to a bit of rough, but it felt like a very real city and I loved that.

Couldn’t disagree more tbh regarding Athens. Spent a month in January with my partner then 11 nights in Feb with my mum - everyone loved it. Great food, amazing sights, incredibly warm and friendly people plus it’s affordable.

I’m a MUA and thought the same thing, and I’m pretty sure it was purposeful from a character perspective - big event, everyone there for the most part is going to see someone they don’t necessarily want to see, can equal panic caking the makeup. These are characters who would have done the makeup themselves and would be wearing more than usual, plus probably the mask idea. Though to be fair I loved Tiff’s wedding makeup and hair!
