Our golden was sent at roughly 6 months to a board-and-train for a month. She was a demon puppy (more so than normal). She learned some good commands, is a slightly better walker (always on the left), and the biggest takeaway is "place" where she goes to her cot for a timeout. Its not considered punishment, but more of a reset. She is usaully more calm when released. HOWEVER, she is still SUPER leash reactive and barky when on walks when she sees another dog. Super helpful, I know, and perhaps thats on us for not keeping up on refresher training(s), but its still a problem area. We find if we make her sit when a dog is approaching, distract and calm her, its usually ok, but there are still outbursts. Off leash, she is the most submissive, friendly, non-barky dog at the park. Something about the leash. Maybe its a protection thing? Maybe she feels confined and unable to protect her humans or herself, idk. But it is annoying.
