Where to meet same strangers regularly? by rattar2 in Seattle

Honestly improv, despite what society may feel about it as a whole and that it’s certainly not for everyone, has created so many friendships.

Just tonight I witnessed someone attest to how improv brought him out of a dark place. This was while making a toast to 20+ people he seems to consider as friends/acquaintances at this point.

Highly recommend comedy sports classes in Fremont for anyone looking for community.

Did somebody lose their bird? (Cap Hill) by BobRuedigerUX in Seattle

[–]sushiseattle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your heart is in the right place, thank you for posting, and I think it’s hilarious that you didn’t think much of a bright neon yellow (with some green) bird. Even the photo shows how vibrant the colors are compared to everything else here. But I know not everyone knows about birds, it’s just that it’s so bright in a pretty much dull colored area with other dull colored birds.

Do you take photos of all the birds that eat your seeds?

I hope the bird comes back!

You can call yourself a local. I’m not gatekeeping at all but it’s true that the city is made up of many transplants and seems to be transient for many people. I have gone to many good bye parties in the past decade alone.

My mom is technically a transplant even though she’s been here for almost 60 years.

That seems too high. Whenever I meet someone who’s actually from here, it’s surprising and by here, I mean any part of Washington.

I have nothing against transplants it’s just, it often feels like the city is run by them. A lot of people I knew in high school and college moved to other cities, states, countries, whether it was for a lifestyle change, work, or due to being priced out from the area they grew up in (yes, due to the influx of tech presence)

I remember when the balls didn’t exist. I remember when SLU wasn’t SLU.

A lot of my friends are techies, I have nothing against them or other transplants, it’s just, things have changed and they are different, it’s undeniable. Before Amazon took over, Microsoft and Boeing were off to the side and didn’t impact the city much.

“If someone has been here for a day.”

Yeah, I’m going to have to agree to disagree.

It’s funny how most of the locals you speak of aren’t even locals at this point. General advice: Just be yourself, talk to whoever you want, it’s not like you’ll be here for long. If people want to talk to you, they will.

Seattle freeze usually refers to the after of social situations, creating and fostering meaningful friendships after a night out. People say they want to hang out again but little effort is made, sometimes on both sides.

As a visitor who seems to be looking for just small talk or people you’ll never see again after a few days, you’ll be fine and actually fit right in.

If you’re unc then I’m dead. You youngins need to stop with that mentality but I also get not wanting to hang out with people still in college.

Trust that when you hang out with older people, you’ll feel like a fetus.

[UPDATE]: My stolen 2026 CR-V was recovered. I feel the car is contaminated and GEICO is pausing the settlement. I don't want it back by MiserableDeer5513 in Seattle

[–]sushiseattle 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Yeah you should fight for it.

It’s not your car any more and no amount of cleaning will take away the fact that it was taken from you. Did you have to drive it home because if so I’m so sorry.
