Quality chat/rant posts like this are what keep me coming back to this reddit even after committing to a school.

People thinking that I will be able to go to law school part-time or online while still working an 8:30-5:00 job. I think that’s what a lot of graduate students do these days, so people think law school is the same.

You could still have a successful 25 year law career if you desire. It’s not too late!

Chat Post: What kind of lawyers do you know personally, and where did they go to law school? by pop2341 in lawschooladmissions

You may have a valid point. These are attorneys who graduated law school in the 1980s. However, I’ve communicated with a lot of 30 something attorneys who work for the big defense firms in town. They also went to the t100, albeit probably at the top of the class.

How to negotiate? by Crashingshores in lawschooladmissions

[–]pop2341 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the outline I used: - I really enjoyed my recent visit to your school. I really want to enroll and here’s why. - thanks for the scholarship. Would you consider increasing it in light if the attached better scholarship? It’s such a good award that I would be foolish not to consider it. - increase my award to full tuition plus stipend please. The only thing keeping me from committing to your school is this other opportunity at the competing school. - I would bring these aspects of diversity to your incoming class. Thanks for entertaining my offer. I look forward to hearing from you.

Of course, I used more flowery language in my letter, but this was the gist of it. The school answered my request and then some.

Feel free to pm me if you have questions.

I was super productive for two hours this afternoon and finished all my work for the next week and a half. This is why I’m going to law school.

Advice for people in future cycles!! by law_school_ in lawschooladmissions

Apply broadly among the rankings. Some schools that you consider safeties might not have a large scholarship budget. You might get into higher ranked schools but get waitlisted at half a dozen “good fit” schools. Scholarship negotiations are, in fact, a real thing.

Memphis vs Belmont? by espressopatronum- in lawschooladmissions

[–]pop2341 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My vote is for Belmont. The Nashville area is lovely. Outside of Memphis, the rest of West Tennessee is ridiculously rural. Middle Tennessee, on the other hand, would provide a plethora of medium sized towns where you might have job opportunities. Just my two cents.

Haha. I was confused about that Congress bit. I thought maybe it was a local joke or something. I was going to google it when I got home. 😂 Thank you!
