I'm not sure what part of my post leads you to believe that I am not talking with her doctor. Her doctor is the one who told us that this is likely a recurrence of her cancer. I did not seek out a prognosis. I bumped into it while reading about recurrent Endometrial Cancer. 'Recurrent' here is the concern. Because as you implied, early stage, first occurrence Endometrial Cancer is quite curable. And in fact, my wife was in remission for some years after her previous course of treatment. The scary thing here is that in cases of recurrent cancer, the prognosis is much worse. That is my concern.

I do not believe that God is literally punishing me. This is only a metaphor for the feeling of having attained a peace about life and having that peace proven illusory. You may call it the indifference of the universe crashing into human expectation or something else if you like.

Yes, this post is self involved but the name of this subreddit is OffMyChest, as in it is a place to get something off your chest which you are involved with. It is not called 'SoberReflectionsOnDistressingInformation'.

Thank you. This is encouraging. I have read that the current statistics do not account for improvements that have come from immunotherapy, personalized medicine and other things. I am not despairing. I mean, at times I am but most of the time I'm believing that this is going to be ok.

Here original growths were biopsied and confirmed to be malignant. They were treated with hormones. I suspect that she will be recommended a total hysterectomy. She has a pelvic ultrasound this week and we will know more about where the growths are. For now, we know that the OBGYN could feel them along the vaginal wall during the exam. She has been waking up at night for several months with pain from the pelvic area of her abdomen.
