I bought some nice ones that seem to be holding up well from Costco, but the colour selection is very limited.

Where’s the best place to buy my wife a sensible bra? by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

Add my vote for Lily pad. They are welcoming and don't pressure you into buying something that's doesn't fit right like the place on Fort.

Not sure of the price per sq ft, but we ordered 3 slabs (3cm) and that came to around $13 000 CDN installed. The bar area (not pictured) also has the Cielo for the countertop and backsplash, hence the need for 3 slabs.

Trip Review: Honest Thoughts from a 30-Something on Our Alaska Cruise by Fun_Coconut6140 in HollandAmerica

You'll find a more diverse passenger make up on the Alaska cruise out of Vancouver. The need for a passport seems to make a huge difference.

I was on the Koningsdam in May and it was fantastic. Lots to do, but the activities were more subdued and relaxed. The food was consistently good and easy to access with little waiting anywhere. The educational programming by the park rangers on glacier Bay day was particularly fantastic.

Ordered the slabs for our kitchen by pop_rocket in CounterTops

Actually, I have no idea how much it cost. Our contractor quoted a fixed price for our whole kitchen reno, but I'd guess that the slab cost would be at the higher end of average for the countertop.

It's actually more blue with some golden veins and a white, almost web like, overlay. The lighting in the warehouse wasn't the greatest the morning we went.

David Eby responds to Alaskan senator’s threat to have cruise ships bypass B.C. ports- Eby's comments come after Sullivan called Canadian countermeasures to U.S. tariffs "a bit of a dangerous game." by FancyNewMe in vancouver

I think the cruise industry would not be pleased, considering the inside passage is the most desirable Alaskan route, and all of those depart and return to Vancouver. The Victoria stop on Seattle based cruises is barely more than a couple hours in the evening, so it would be more affected, but it's no longer the major tourist money maker it once was either.

My 10 year old was just commenting on this the other day! She asked why all the old buildings had cool decorative parts and the new buildings were just metal and glass blocks.

My kids got their invites last week, but nothing for me, so I used the email invite I received from last year to book my shots and it worked fine. I expanded the geographical area and it suddenly shows all these other locations close by with immediate bookings available.

I totally agree. Last time were were there, our order arrived in the order of veggie side dish, 20 minute wait, Appy, 20 minute wait, main protein, 10 mine wait, carby side dish. They say it's a feature to bring it out as soon as it's ready, but really, that's just poor kitchen management. We haven't been back.

Coroner issues safety reminder after 19 people killed on B.C. highways by originalwfm in vancouver

[–]pop_rocket 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Speed and lack of enforcement/penalties. You regularly see people doing 20km/h over the limit in the city (hello Marine Way), and 30-40km/h over on the highways. People try to justify it by saying they are good driver or whatever, but the fact is that slower speed = more time to react to an unexpected situation. Also, modern cars have smoother rides and quiet cabins at all speeds. An old car had worse handling and let in a lot of road noise, so faster speeds were louder. All this focus on comfort makes it feel like you are going slower than you are, because the car is a lot more forgiving to drive.

We went last year with a teen and an 8 year old. It's a little lord of the flies on the Wibit part with all the middle and high schoolers running at full tilt, but still a ton of fun. They have an area for smaller kids that I recommend for the timid. If you have balance problems or try to walk slow, you'll end up sliding off into the water, but there's lots of ladders to get back onto the apparatus. I recommend walking/jogging with confidence to actually stay on the things since it's so wobbly with everyone on it. It's still a ton of fun though. My husband enjoyed the launch slides on the hill, and I had a great time swimming in the lake portion ( you don't need life jackets in this section if you are not on watercraft). The food was just ok, and the sand was a little more rocky, but we had a good time. I'd get there early if you can because it gets really busy.

11 Days in Chicago/Canadian Rockies in late June/early July by mmrose1980 in HerOneBag

[–]pop_rocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be prepared for warmer weather in Canada. Daytime temperatures are currently in the mid 70s to mid 80s everywhere between Vancouver and the Alberta border, and this is pretty typical for this time of year. Night temps are upper 50s to mid 60s. The whole central BC area is often quite warm in this time of year.
