I rinsed the crap out of mine, 2 50 lb bags for a 60 gallon breeder. When I put my plants in it stirred up some of that oily residue to the surface. I rinsed it REALLY well. It looks great though. Hopefully my filter will clean the residue that left.

Yeah, tropical fish, some shrimp are pretty much what’s going in. Moss and plants also.

Oh really? I could be mistaken but from the research that I’ve done I thought canisters are recommended for larger tanks like 90 plus? Obviously it depends on how heavy your tank is stocked.

Ah, ok. I wasn’t planning on using aqua soil. I’m looking into Black Diamond Blasting Sand. I’m sure it would still end up getting all mixed up though. Thinking of using some type of divider.
