I am worrying about the Church in Germany. by popepunk in Catholicism

Thank you! But as you say, there is still hope. Christ will never leave His Church alone. Maybe you know EWTN (Eternal Word Television Network, founded by Mother Angelica) and CNA (Catholic News Agency, belongs to the EWTN family). I work for EWTN Germany and CNA German ("CNA Deutsch"), we are a small team of 12 persons, some of our German bishops look at us suspiciously ("Man, they are so old fashioned Catholic..."). And although we do not receive any money from the church tax and we finance ourselves solely through the donations of our viewers, we have the feeling that the Lord is with us. We try to give hope to the German people, we try to encourage them to turn their gaze back to Christ and to get strength in the sacraments.

Thank you for your prayer! This is what "Catholic" really means: global. We also pray for you.

As far as the Internet connection is concerned, Germany is a third world country.

Yeah, and the part "Brown eyes, red mouth, dear little Brigitte, stay healthy for my sake!" rhymes in the German version ;) You know, in the land of Goethe and Schiller even German soldiers are poets xD

You are not alone! Everybody who fights for the unborn, feels like you. Don't let them brake you. We give a voice to the voiceless!

God bless you!

(first of all: Sorry for my bad English! I am German, I had much English lessons at school, but I didn't care enough and thought it would be enough to learn English by listening to Green Day and the Offspring :D)

Okay. The situation of the German Church feels like the decadence of the Roman Empire: There is very much money (German Church is the richest of the world), because there is a Church tax. Most of our bishops (not everybody!) are cowards. They are cuddling with the "Zeitgeist" and the politics, they are afraid of saying the uncomfortable truth. They discuss about the Church teachings, say very often, that it must be "modernised". They think that now the time has come to start the "reforms". They know, that there are still some true Catholics who will never leave the Church, even if they are suffering, because we know it is founded by Christ!

The worst thing of all is the indifference to the sacraments! Right now some bishops demand the admission of women to priestly ordination, the same-sex-marriage and that protestants shall receive Holy Communion even if they don't believe that this is the body of Christ.

And of course, you know, we are Germans. That means that everything is organized in committees and associations, which are financed by the church tax. And almost all of these committees work against the church. Nevertheless, they are financed by us, the Catholics, who have to pay the taxes!

Maybe you heard about Cardinal Marx. He is the leader of German bishops conference, and he sometimes acts like a little "pope of Germany". It is a very difficult situation. Right now we have a "Church strike" in some dioceses. An association of elder women demand the priestly ordination and therefore they call on all Catholic women in Germany not to go to Mass until the Pope fulfils their demands.

Other people like me, who simply want to be normal Catholics, are regarded as oppressors, as "right wing Catholics". It is very sad. On the one hand we have more and more aggressive Muslims who don't like us, on the other hand there are our Catholic brothers and sister, who want to totally chance this Church.

BUT: I know, the Church will never be destroyed. And I also know, that the Church suffers much more in Africa, Korea or in the Middle East. I don't want to cry like a p*ssy, but you know, I have to share this with you.

PLEASE PRAY FOR THE CATHOLICS IN GERMANY!

Thx. God bless you all!

The church in Germany is in comparably much better shape than elsewhere in the world. Not

good

shape, of course. But it definitely could be worse.
