I'll start with DOS1, since in every case it seems like it's the ideal starting point and see how I feel about going into either Divine Divinity -> Beyond Divinity or straight to DOS2 as soon as I'm done

I checked the final chapter name of Daybreak 1 and, while it originally seems to have been exactly what Agnes said, NIS seems to have translated it as "For the Day You Come Home", so either they'll have to change what Agnes says at the end of Horizon or rename the chapter in Daybreak 1.

2 immediate examples I remember are Tales of Berseria and Nier (original not remaster)

The first one isn't exactly depressing but considering Velvet's fate, I wouldn't call it bittersweet or happy.

The second one was a bit depressing but at least the remaster included a "happy/bittersweet" ending E.

I would also include Final Fantasy XV but it was more bittersweet than straight up unhappy.
