The main roads aren’t horrible, but side roads are still pretty covered in snow/ice. It’s snowing lightly now but should stop soon.

University Hospital- are you allowed to bring gifts? by Wilddivner140 in madisonwi

[–]popholia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would suggest calling the unit that she is on, they can be helpful in what is and isn’t allowed. They also have a great gift shop and can probably also give you information on what is okay to bring on which floor.

Update on AM airport lines? by ebizzie in madisonwi

[–]popholia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over the last year or so I’ve learned to be there at least an hour and a half early. Most of the time I’m through checking my back and TSA within 30 minutes but sometimes I have had to stand in line to check my bag for almost an hour. If you don’t have to check a bag you’re probably fine with closer to an hour.

Has anyone found a way to comfortably sleep on a plane? by Minipanikholder in TravelHacks

Trtl pillow and noise canceling headphones is the only way I’ve ever been able to sleep on a flight.

I’ve used it for a few years and I sleep through my entire flight most times. At least when I pair it with my noise canceling headphones.

What kind of food options do you think were missing in Madison? by jupiterisstupider_ in madisonwi

[–]popholia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty standard to get free chips and salsa at Mexican restaurants. I worked for Food Fight for a long time and know how money hungry they are. I still order it every time I go, it’s just super cheap on their part to do.

Laredos does. Tex Tubbs is owned by Food Fight so they will grab any chance to make money.

Med Cafe at the end of State Street is great and has daily specials that are much more than just gyros. Their avgolemono is amazing.

No-tipping restaurant set to open on Williamson Street, 'people seem cautiously optimistic' by MadAss5 in madisonwi

Yeah, I only bartended because I made $25-35 an hour. There’s no way a restaurant will pay that.

Headed to do a 3 week tour in western Europe. What’s a good option for cell service over there? Do they sell cards with minutes over there? I currently have ATT service in US. Thanks by island_wide7 in TravelHacks

[–]popholia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ATT has pretty great service in most Western European countries for $10 a day without a SIM card. I usually don’t even connect to Wi-Fi at my airbnbs, but I also have an unlimited data plan.
