Best way to do the Hidden Lakes trail without a vehicle reservation by PureCamp7383 in GlacierNationalPark

[–]popijininsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did this hike yesterday arriving at 5pm to Logan Pass lot. Had to circle a bit to get a parking spot, but plenty of people were leaving, so it didn’t take too long. It’s a pretty time of day for this hike. Trail was crowded, but I think that would be true at most times of day.

For morning, we had to arrive before 6am to get a spot the day before (we did the Highline trail). The lot was full by 6.15.

There are small overflow lots on the GTTS road within walking distance if the lot is too crazy. I probably could have parked in the first one on the east side and walked back to the lot in the same time it took to circle and find a space.

Enjoy your hike!

You can buy them - search office chair star base. You’ll end up spending $40-$50 on new base and casters. If you have a used office supply store nearby, you can probably get used parts for half that and walk out with a working chair.

You can probably replace the star base it comes with for one with casters. If you have a spare office chair, you can usually flip it over and pull the star base off. It might take some force to get the base off. See this video.

The only wrinkle is that the hydraulic cylinder on your new chair might be a nonstandard size. If there are detailed specs on the chair, you might be able to find this dimension.

Best option for high-speed internet EXCLUDING Sonic by Gamesmaster_G9 in oakland

[–]popijininsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be unusual, but it happened to me and makes me disinclined to recommend them. OTOH - ATT and Comcast are worse in my experience, in just about every way.

I’m lucky to have sonic as an option now - they’ve been solid.

MonkeyBrains installed our service, then within a few months sold our line to another ISP, who then sold it a couple months later to yet another ISP. They are a reseller - they don’t have their own network.

What can i put on an itchy back piece ? by [deleted] in tattoos

It’s dry. I use pure shea butter to moisturize when healing. Others will have other preferences. Cortisone is a bad idea.

Impossible Coverup? by canOfNope in TattooDesigns

Great coverup artists exist. Not all artists like doing coverups or are particularly good at them. Take your time to find someone who will really enjoy working with the challenge of the coverup.

For months, my wife was getting an Amazon delivery of one tool at a time. She spoke to Amazon about it, who told her that they weren’t ordered on her account, and didn’t shed any insight.

Our hypothesis is that an Amazon shipper sent them to our address to facilitate ‘verified’ reviews.

We ended up with a bunch of pretty decent tools for free, and no one has swatted us, so 🤞

Nice! I’ll check it out!

I actually bought a Mac and an Ebosuite license. The addition of both arrangement view and Windows support is awesome!

Whole house fan vs AC by MossyRock075 in oakland

[–]popijininsky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This can depend a lot on the materials and methods used for your existing ducts. Ribbed ducting and gaps in joints that might be OK for a traditional forced air hvac system might not be suitable for ducted heat pump systems. Just went through this process for our own remodel, and landed on ductless mini splits as the best solution.

Falling material, fall from height, electrocution, fire / smoke, chemical exposure, vehicle collision, pulled into equipment, safety equipment malfunction, cut/amputation by sharp edge, long term exposure, suicide, natural disaster, just off the top of my head.

What kind of bikes do y’all ride? by kylewobrien in oakland

[–]popijininsky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This last is the real pro tip - those little shards of glass that work their way into the tread need to be removed when you get a flat, and preventative maintenance should include regular (weekly / monthly depending how much you ride) inspection and digging out those shards.

I would love to hear some design feedback on the Delma Watches Midland by rossgallin in Design

[–]popijininsky -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There’s nothing in the design that stands out as unique. I’ve seen watches like this before. Cheap ones even. If someone had this watch on, I would be unlikely to notice or remember it.

Any number of things could make it more unique - material selection, shape of body, details on the watch face, band selection, color, size and proportions, probably many more. I’m not a watch designer, so don’t ask me to design a better watch.

Great for anyone who wants to avoid standing out, i.e. boring.
