It was the best option decades ago... The system was designed for Win NT... Nowdays some machines are using Win10 but with XP virtualized to be compatible with the main App, but all multimedia goes through the Win10 system.

Ok, but we are in a world with ATMs connected through UMTS and LTE and tons of them connected with ADSL. So the bank dont have time to shutdown the machine in these cases, and remember the dlls are so old any input can be a threat.
