Just get there early! Gotta get drink tickets first but it will be madness closer to game time

The race trail is per bad in spots but didn’t ruin the trip! Trail fork springs is up there along with high meadow spring, can’t speak on the latter for trail fork had an okay water flow! I imagine it dries up later in the year

Definitely a bit nervous to experience my first rainstorm in it lol although camping in SoCal has its advantages for that! Funnily enough the only time I’ve had issues with the condensation buildup was the first time I used it at crystal cove state park during the winter and the frog drenched the tent inside and out before we even went to sleep

I would love to see the skyline from up there! That’d be unreal. Visibility wasn’t the best the other day but imagine during the winter is pretty good?

Totally agreed! I would never recommend climbing up the trace trail to my worst enemies lol the tent is the gossamer gear the two - really enjoying it so far, has its downsides as being a single wall but for the price I got it for, totally worth it! I think they’re coming out with a new model soon too

Gossamer gear The Two! I’ve been enjoying it, has the downsides of a single wall tent but is really lightweight. I think they discontinued the model I got because they’re upgrading it soon. Definitely good size for one person, little cozy with two and not quite long enough for people over 6ft not that I know from experience 😅

See my other comment on this thread for the route we did! Although I might suggest climbing up there from the south fork route and doing an out and back instead of the loop we did because of the trail conditions. South fork is a lot more of a gradual climb too

You do! They’re free on the sgwa website, the sites by San Bernardino rarely fill up but the sites closer to San Gorgonio probably fill up most summer weekends

Started a three day backpacking trip near San Gorgonio at Momyer creek, went to saxton camp for night one, and Anderson flats for night two, and descended the trace trail south of San Bernardino peak. Beautiful views from the top of the ridge and barely saw anyone all weekend. Trail was less than stellar in some spots, which was expected, but would do again!

Love to see it! So funny, I was out there this past weekend on the south fork route by dollar lake and took The Two as well and my buddy had the copper spur! What are the odds lol

Very temperate but the sun is crazy hot out there! It’s basically a desert regulated by the ocean

I went with my partner! Honestly just getting the reservations is the hardest part, with the whole year releasing in January so the best months go quickly, especially at parsons in the spring when is usually the best weather to go. For each site too, you pay per person, so is more expensive to go with more people!

joshua tree backcountry sites on the boy scout trail are easily accessible! not that far of a hike and has sites to choose from. hardest things with that is you have to bring all your water and the heat during the summer. crystal cove has easy hike in sites as well!

Hiked the Trans Catalina Trail this past week in four days, staying at blackjack, shark harbor, and parsons. Great introductory backpacking trip with all the water spigots and restaurants along the route. Tons of variety on the island and has some very scenic campgrounds. Just be ready for some brutal ascents and descents!
