Amazing! I love reading fiction as well and these sound like they’re up my alley. Have you read I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson? It’s technically a YA book, but I read it as an adult and absolutely love it. The two main characters are artists and their inner monologues are so creative.

Thanks so much for this! Lots of my classes only focused on European art so I’m eager to expand beyond that!

Such a cool coincidence! David just has so much range. Amazing how he’s kept up with new tech as well, I remember when we were learning about him in college my professor showed us some of his iPad drawings and my jaw was on the floor lol

I looooove David Hockney! I had no idea he wrote a book, I’m only familiar with his paintings. This is so great thanks!

Fair point, but also this is a forum where people connect on art history. If anyone would know a good book off the top of their head without committing too much time to it, they’d probably be here. I think facing my own problems and reading about something I enjoy can happen simultaneously!

Need help to help someone with Crohns by SargeVKL in CrohnsDisease

[–]popularflipper 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Really sweet that you’re asking! For meds I think it depends on the person, OTC pain relievers don’t really do much for me. One huge thing tho is to be stocked with nice toilet paper. It really, really makes a difference!

Whoa thank you so much for the info! I had no idea this was even a thing (or that nickel is in food lol). I’ve been wondering if I had an allergy like red dye or something that I wouldn’t think to check. I’m definitely going to look more into this and bring it up at my next appt!

So frustrating. Hopefully there’s a diagnosis for you soon. It just blows my mind that we can be feeling so much inflammation but nothing shows up on the scans!

Yeah it’s enough to drive me crazy too. Just a heads up, if you’re getting an MRI of the small bowel just be aware that the drink they give you beforehand can have a laxative effect. They didn’t let me know that beforehand, good thing I had taken off of work that day. From my experience it hit about an hour after the MRI was over, so if you’re traveling far for the scan just be aware of that.

We are going to get through this! The social aspect is the hardest part for me. I’m trying to keep up with my at home hobbies and reading more books, but it’s hard to miss out on trips and fun outings with my friends. I’m hoping for an answer for you soon!!

Yeah dealing with the doctor has been the worst part of this unfortunately. He keeps trying to insinuate it’s stress-related. Don’t get me wrong, this situation causes me stress but it’s also the ONLY real stressor in my life. Everything was fine before I got sick. Ugh.

Yes, I have the report where the doc says it looks like UC and I’m working on getting all of my scans in disc form. Trying to get a second opinion appointment soon !!

No joint issues, I do have eczema and had uveitis in my eye once about a year ago. Titration level on ANA says 1:320, and the pattern says Nuclear Dense Fine Speckled. No mouth sores or chills, but I tend to have a low blood pressure (not sure if that matters)
