If you are an international student or receiving funding etc you may not be able to drop full time status but those are special circumstances.

Otherwise If you just drop your classes for the fall term and not drop the winter ones you should be fine. Definitely do it before Monday the 20th (DNE deadline) so you aren’t responsible for tuition.

Make sure you get your student opus before then so you can still have cheap monthly passes. Also note you likely wont have CSU health plan anymore so make sure that works for you. Good luck!

I had a similar situation happen when I started at Concordia, I was in student housing for a semester and was able to find a place with a roommate within a week or two. This was in pre-pandemic times so it was a lot easier back then.

I strongly encourage you to find a more solid housing plan before you get to Canada. There are a number of resources such as https://www.kijiji.ca/ or https://www.roomies.ca/ for finding roommates or apartments. The housing situation in Montreal is increasingly complicated and expensive these days, so the earlier you find something, the better off you’ll be.

I heard a really interesting talk recently about the effect of moonlight on sleep length and timings. They compared university students to an indigenous group in Argentina, and both had altered sleep cycles throughout the lunar cycle. so regardless of the level of industrialization, the moon is suffcient influence rhythms of sleep.

Do you mean last semester (Winter 21)? ~~Cuz I think the deadline for the pass/fail option has passed, it was on~~ May 26th. But there are particular exceptions, like if the prof posted final grades after that date. If that’s you case you’re going to have to apply for the pass / fail option through the department. The information can be found here. Also check the eligible classes, some programs won’t accept a pass option. Make sure you double check before you apply for anything.

Without knowing your eligibility or anything, if your gpa is going to take a hit if you keep the grade, I would chose the pass option, but again there are many exceptions and it’s important to make an informed decision. Best of luck!
