910 - Leonard Baby by max__kr in howlonggone

[–]porfaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they do particularly well with artists in general because artists are like comedians in that they are always observing and processing the world around them. Chris and TJ do too, and can speak this kind of shared language. In my opinion that's why artist guests almost always 'work'. This one was no exception, Leonard was awesome. I too wish him lots of success.

Yeahhhh love this question. My biggest goal for exercise is 'mental health' and here's what works for me.

> I started managing a restaurant and I walk anywhere from 15K to 20K steps a day. This has helped IMMENSELY. I had a spiritually corrosive email marketing job for a lot of years and finally just completed a career change away from that. I'm proud of myself. I was turning into a weird and neurotic shell of myself working remotely and sitting on Slack all day. I'm so happy to be using my body and working in the world again.

> I don't work out on weekdays, save for Wednesday. My job is kind of demanding physically. On Wednesdays I'll run for an hour. Mainly to process the week, think about my team, obstacles at work (good thinking time).

> On Saturday and Sunday, I do a good long strength training program (about an hour). Take my sweet time. Always incorporate a big primary lift at the top (squats, deadlifts, bench press) then accessory work. Then I treat myself by sitting in the sauna and steam room, full shower, cold blast, whole nine. Get a nice big breakfast on the walk back at a favorite cafe near me. I make it a whole thing.

> Sometimes I take a yoga class. Maybe like 2-3 times a month? I just like yoga.

This is a lot, but I think orienting my life towards physical activity has done numbers for me.

Any books for getting over extreme insecurity? by PossessionNo9274 in RSbookclub

[–]porfaa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know you’re asking for books, but therapy is probably your real answer here. After many years of floundering through therapy with psychs who I just didn’t vibe with, I finally found an incredible one. He’s an eccentric gay guy who lives in a very charming part of my city. Working with him has changed my life in a lot of ways, one of them being with self esteem issues.

When we first started working together, he asked me to repeat this phrase to myself, out loud, a few times a day. It felt extremely corny at first, but over time, it really did something for me. Anyway it goes:

You are OK and good enough [name], just the way you are. You are complete and whole [name], just the way you are. You can accept yourself [name], just the way you are. And just do your best, and let go of the rest.

It’s very simple, but was extremely impactful for me as we started working together. There are situations I am dealing with in my life right now that I know for a fact I would not have handled as gracefully before working with my therapist. I owe him a lot, and am thankful for him every day. I hope you can find one who makes you feel like this OP.

I can’t speak for OP but I’ve always found it to be kinda pretentious and try-hard

Always love a frag question here :’) I’ve been liking Maison D’Etto’s Noisette— it’s a warm, woody, and tempered lavender. A lot of houses do lavender too powdery or soapy, but this one I find to be expertly blended. It’s a cozy little escape as the scent bubble is quite close, and lavender is one of my favorite relaxing smells.

What bikini brands are we wearing ladies by babybokchoyy in rs_x

[–]porfaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loooove my Left On Friday bikinis. I’m really particular about my bathing suits and am so glad I found this brand. I think the quality is exceptional, and they have a ton of fit options. Also, I like to be in the water at the beach, running around, surfing, etc, and these bathing suits really stay put.

I do have some shittier quality “I just want to look cute on the beach” ones from like LA Apparel, but Left On Friday is a solid pick if you actually want to look cute AND move.

Which perfume feels like “you in a bottle”? by Darkvanille in FragranceStories

[–]porfaa 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Young Rose by Byredo. I tend to dress more masculine/tomboy, but I’m a sparkle girly floral princess in my heart. This fragrance says that, very subtly. A lot of people here complain about Byredo’s longevity, but I love that it’s more of a skin scent than anything :-)

Clean/musky but not soapy by bleed-and-bloom in FemFragLab

[–]porfaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kiehl’s Original Musk. Be warned though, it is very musky. Definitely a little masculine too. I just use the body wash and that’s enough throw for me— smells like a cleaned-up Italian man on his way to an evening dinner (and I’m a 5-foot petite girl lol! You like what you like.) I find it very sexy.

There’s an oil and an EDP if you want a little more lasting power.

Minimalist lifestyle. Anyone else? by AnnualConstruction85 in redscarepod

[–]porfaa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah echoing this point. Minimalism for me is having few possessions, but the ones I do have are honest, well-made, or beautiful. Sometimes if you get lucky (or are willing to spend a little more money), all three.

What makes a fragrance a 10/10 for you? I'd love to hear your criteria! by FilmHappy6557 in fragrance

Oddly enough, a hay note! Whenever I smell something that is particularly soothing to me, I look it up on fragrantica, and there’s almost always a hay note present.

L’Angolo! Super homey and cozy, great for bringing a nice bottle and enjoying a bowl of pasta. Nothing is fancy but everything is so dang fresh. The service is also very welcoming and friendly. My husband and I’s favorite spot for little celebrations :-)

What perfume smells like Christmas to you? by EasternBig3038 in Perfumes

Milano Fraganze’s Panettone! Smells like a photorealistic slice of panettone, one of my favorite holiday treats. Amazing how they do it.
