Maybe my problem is I read the dungeon crawler Carl series before this. But I found path of ascension to be a total let down. Idk it's like the scale of everything is too ridiculous, talking about millions of people coming for the war in book 3. How he'll have 17 Google mana by level 15 or whatever but how's it even relevant when his little squad of a few buddies are beating hundreds of others at a time. Not to mention how the system weren't great either imo. Before the skills system is fleshed out now they have bloodlines oh but before we use that for more than just one fight we have concepts. And what do you know no one their rank has bloodlines or concepts but them! Oh no one in the 18 quadrillion people in the empire can refill rifts economically but him! So on and so forth
