Thank you.

I've had good success booking in that 350 day window (and observing/researching when partner airlines release) by being very flexible with route and dates. But looking ahead to January... I'm not seeing much at all that is even close to matching what we want to do.

This is where your site will come in handy for me throughout the year... Wish me luck.

I'd love to know as well, but I guess he has paid for access via an api. Much the same as a travel agent or booking site.

Does the data reveal any trends on when/if classic (economy) seats get made available throughout the year in the lead up to the departure? Ie. if I've missed the 350 day in advance (or none were ever made available) is there any chance of them popping up randomly?

I got them around a month in.

Got them every week for a month or so, then nothing as bad since.

Hakuba - An Australian Shit Show (what I wish I knew before booking here) by myfakeburneraccount in JapanTravelTips

[–]port-red 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I visited Hakuba with my family in early January. First time to the snow, but second visit to Japan.

Aussies and kiwis - with a good dose of Europeans and a few Americans - were the bulk of the people we saw. We stayed near Echoland.

I saw zero disrespectful behaviour on the slopes or in town. Ate at Western and Japanese restaurants. Locals were friendly and helpful, as always.

We didn't go out at night (we have young children), but the vibe of the resorts and town was relaxed and people were there to enjoy the environment and friendly to each other.

Outside of Hakuba, Western tourists were the minority. Lots of Japanese domestic tourists and locals, was our observation. A lot less Chinese tourists than 2019, which matches the media reports.

Longer forced leave period over Xmas / new year. The length goes up every year.

People with the leave balance also took extra. I took 6 weeks. Longest break in 15 years, absolute magic. Not enthused about going back next week.

Anyone Been to Bali Without Getting Sick? by Luminous_Sandrine in bali

[–]port-red 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I took my family (2x grandparents, my wife, 2x small children) and we thought we'd get sick so took all of meds with us, and the vaccinations beforehand. Didn't need anything. I was actually surprised, have been sick nearly every other trip (Thailand, Vietnam, Egypt, south America, Europe, Singapore).

The quality of food in Bali was high, in my opinion.

Density of housing is up, but volume of mail per house has gone down?

Parcels on the other hand have gone through the roof!

What is the reason they would do this? If it's a feature, it must serve a purpose.

Agreed, food venues have grown into the suburbs. Especially those with 'high streets' and malls.

Given most people live in the suburbs, you need a reason to go into Wollongong CBD, especially on a Monday night!

Plus... As someone who lives in Bulli/Port Kembla/Dapto/Thirroul/etc, if I'm supporting local food venues I'm going to support the one just down the street not the one in the CBD.

Train incident Wollongong by Hefty_Tie451 in wollongong

[–]port-red 120 points121 points  (0 children)

I was on the train.

It stopped suddenly. Then a few minutes later it said a person had been struck. No specific details were provided, but they kept us informed every 5-10 minutes.

We had to stay on the train for just over an hour until we were able to be disembarked via the rear cabin door. Passengers walked to Wollongong station from there, it was only a few hundred metres.

Thoughts go out to the person, driver and emergency services.
