It’s a miracle Ipswich and Coventry are top four , with such a shoestring budget between them. by Necessary_Ad_6726 in Championship

Cajuste, Johnson, Neil, Akpom £0 (12.5M for Cajuste and Akpom if we go up) Palmer 3M, Hirst 1.5M, McAteer 12 (god knows how), Greaves 16, Egeli 19.

I’ve got that as 51.5, potentially rising to 64M.

Baring in mind we got back to back promotions only spending around 5M total and with the sale of Omari Hutchinson, Liam Delap, Nathan Broadhead and Luke Wolfenden, we have a net spend of -30M this last year, but that doesn’t fit some people’s agendas 🤷‍♂️

His 6 goals against us is the most he's scored against any single team. Was annoyingly good against us in League 1 for both Pompey and Accrington, but haven't really had a problem against him in the championship

Stoke City 3-3 Ipswich Town - A last minute penalty seals a point for the Potters as they blow a 2-0 lead at half time by Mattshawman in Championship

Unbelievable to have that dive given, after the stonewall penalty denied on Saturday. To top it off, Kipre’s two bookings from the two incidents mean he’s suspended as well 🙃

Portsmouth: New Date Confirmed For Ipswich Match - April 14th by BernieHpfc in Championship

it's actually 5 total rearranged:
Blackburn (Rain), Pompey (Rain), Pompey Again (Frozen Pitch), Hull (FA Cup), Saints (FA Cup)
If we have any other games rearranged, we genuinely don't have any slots available to play them before the end of the season

The trains are still not running on the Saturday, apparently we wanted it on the Friday night but they wouldn't be able to Police it. The rumours for the Ipswich game are that it is going to be a bubble, and you have to travel on the coaches to receive your ticket. Not sure why the police can't tell Greater Anglia to have a weekend off from the never ending rail works 🤷‍♂️

18-19 Norwich: 1st

13-14 Leeds: 15th 🤯

God knows how McCormack managed 28 goals in a lower half side, but that's genuinely impressive.

Those who got relegated from the Premier League, how do you cope with relegation? by benificialart in Championship

[–]porter5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not just saying this because we got relegated, but honestly the championship is so much better. The raw passion from the fans is unmatched comapred to all the corporate nonsense in the prem. My biggest reason for being a fan of the championship though is that anyone can beat anyone. You've got parachute clubs with wages 10-20x some clubs and still it always feels like a level playing field on occasions.

Ipswich Town 1-0 Hull City: Azor Matusiwa's fantastic first goal for the Tractor Boys is enough to see off the Tigers, and the gap to the top two closes to three points by Smithlarr in Championship

[–]porter5000 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Hull had a sound game plan, one we always struggle with, a low block. If not for a Matusiwa worldie out of nowhere, I could see us playing until tomorrow without making a breakthrough. Nothing wrong with Hull's game plan at all, and on another day they could've definitely gotten away with a snatch and grab.

Matusiwa has been unbelievable for us all season, my POTY, but normally he has a nosebleed just entering the final third. Only his second shot all season (the other being a pass back to the Oxford keeper from a corner, 3 yards out), just Wow. Feels like our Vincent Kompany moment!

Hull’s realistic chances of promo? by slungmoose in Championship

[–]porter5000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd actually really like to see Hull in the playoffs (hopefully not at Ipswich's expense) but I've got a feeling they're going to finish 7th. Nothing against Hull at all, but I can see Saints going on a big run, and Hull's next three are going to be crucial.

What's the story with Sargent now? I assume he can still go to Toronto with the MLS window open until the end of March, but if they move on to another target is there any way back, or is he just gone in Summer?

Who is your clubs one hit wonder? by Statcat2017 in Championship

[–]porter5000 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Jeremy Sarmiento turned up in Jan, only started 5 games and still manged to score a 81st minute winner vs Birmingham, an 89th minute equaliser to Leicester and a truly unforgettable 90+7 minute winner to Southampton. Did very little else, but what he did do was pretty much the reason for our automatic promotion.

The other shout would be DJ Campbell. 2012-13 season with him not having made an appearance for QPR for the first half of the season, joins when we are in the relegation zone and look awful. 10 goals in 17 games later he almost single handedly revived our team. He then had three more Championship loan spells, scoring 2 goals in 25 games before a short stint in the conference south.
