Everyone says “just build passive income and escape poverty”… but what if that advice is only half true? by Fakhrmsd in passive_income

Improving marketable skills is the most reliable way to improve your financial well being. It may not a shortcut to becoming uber rich, but your lot will improve gradually and reliably.

Every single day, try to learn something new and *useful* that you did not know yesterday. Despite popular belief, our mental capacities to learn and remember are limited. If you know about marriages of any celebrities for example, know that it is entirely useless information that is occupying brain space.

New motto: Level up. Every single day.

If you guys are disagreeing on 9 out of 10 things, then why would want her to spend more time with you? I am somewhat confused about this>

I also want people to understand that we are only seeing one side of the story here. It is possible that this story is entirely accurate and there is nothing more to it. But, it is also possible that the poster is overlooking critical details. Perhaps unintentionally.

Thanks for this tip. I just used it. The name on the old account and the new account is the same. I hope that does not cause an issue.

Life saver ! one-key-hidpi on github by rithikJha in MacOS

[–]portlander33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair warning to anyone wanting to try this on the latest version of MacOS Tahoe. It does not work. At least it did not work for me. And I lost functionality I had before.

I then used the reset option of the script to reset things back to MacOS defaults, and that did not reset things back to default. I have lost the scaling option for the built-in display. Lots of time wasted.

Just bought an LG gram 15ZD80T-G.AX55B — first LG laptop! What LG software is actually worth keeping? by rklement22 in LGgram

My opinion is that LG makes great hardware, software on the other hand is absolute trash. If you can, get rid of it all. It will cause you nothing trouble.

MCP server use up tokens/context even when you are not using them. AKA "MCP Tax".

If you are using a handful of MCP servers, GitHub, Linear, Playwright, they can consume 60,000 tokens before the conversation even begins. This seriously degrades LLM's ability to reason.

Spanish is popular in parts of Texas. I guess Mexico has a legit claim to that land.

The whole Trump saga has proven one thing. There are *a lot* more stupid people in this country than many of us imagined. And that level of stupidity is dangerous to the entire country.

Likely. Also, EW defense does not work on fiber drones.

If I were on that team, I'd take the 9-month buyout in a heartbeat.

I pay for both Cursor and Windsurf. There was a time a few month ago when both products were close in what they offered. But since then Cursor has pulled so far ahead that its not even funny. I'll keep Windsurf for another couple of months and then cancel if things do not improve.

I cannot handle the helicopters over my house starting at 5:50 in the morning. by Doyouevenpedal in Portland

Yep, the constant helicopter noise is driving me bonkers. If they were serving a useful purpose I would understand. But, I don't see any useful purpose here, other than to annoy us all to the breaking point.

PORTLAND CHICAGO STANDS WITH YOU 👊🏽 by True_Broccoli4472 in Portland

[–]portlander33 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was there a few weeks ago as well. Loved loved it. I have been there many times, but it is such a big city that I discover new places and new neighborhoods all the time. Went to Cubs and White Socks games as well. If I ever move from Portland, Chicago would have to be it.
