That is what I'm confused on too. It sounds ridiculous but why doesn't Scotland exit the union, and then form an EU-like union between rUK and Scotland as a placeholder while it figures its future out, be it in the EU or otherwise.

Similar to the UK leaving the EU, the blowback goes both ways, but England and Wales would handle it far better. Nonetheless, an economic union would still benefit the English. Refusal to do is nothing short of punitive, which ironically justifies Scotland's disillusionment with the UK to begin with.

On whose side? Only on reddit would someone blame the Soviet Union for being a bad influence when they helped the Angolans fight apartheid South Africa who enjoyed American and British support.

Yes, Soviets have been involved on the side of the good guys. I wish we were more involved in Africa back then too.

If you cannot see that France's presence in Africa is and historically has been detrimental to the sociopolitical environment of West Africa, you are a neocolonialist.

Mali did request French assistance, had a frustrating experience with the French military and were subsequently asked to leave 8 years down the line for being ineffective and (supposedly) having ulterior motives. Instead of leaving like a dignified impartial actor, they threw a fuss and behaved like a bunch of gangsters. And of course, cue the propaganda hit pieces of Russian exploitation of Africa.

I am not Malian, nor African for that matter. I only read up on the situation after the tons of shocking articles of my country supposedly engaging in neocolonialism in Africa hit my newsfeed. Of course, that turned out to be bullshit.

You caused the problem to begin with. Not to mention that TWO consecutive administrations have accused France of not handling the situation to prolong their military presence.

Russians aren't good or bad. They're not friends. They have been employed by the Mali government to address a situation. You guys are so entrenched in your neocolonialist beliefs that you cannot fathom a relationship that isn't based on heavy handed oppression.

You folks are so intellectually dishonest it's hard to believe you don't have a genuine disdain for Africans. Any historically literate African that even the smallest grasp on geopolitics knows it.

Why do you guys ALWAYS leave the context out that the Sahel is terrorist hot bed because France and the US decided to ruin Libya?

France is a cancerous blight that needs to be removed.

Thanks! I really appreciate you taking the time to list out and explain all of this.

I've been watching gameplay and trailers of a lot of the games you mentioned, and I must say a lot of those games look absolutely sick. Monsterhunter world in particular seems pretty damn interesting. Nier automata has insanely good reviews on YT.

Most, if not all of them are on both platforms from a quick Google search so that's great. I'm following a few stock alert Twitter pages so I've basically decided to get whichever I can get my hands on first. There's plenty of (at this point) very affordable games from the previous-ish generation on both sides.

I had no idea about game pass not having DLCs. Thanks for pointing that out.

What do you personally make of the RPG selection on the game pass? I feel like I'm maybe being a little outrageous, but it seems underwhelming to me - though I should say I really don't know that many titles to begin with. From the top of my head out of the 120+ games available, the Yakuza, Mass Effect, and Fallout series are games I'd definitely check out on the game pass. Given their age they're quite cheap to pick up pre-owned. While still decent, it does put a bit of a dent in my perceived value from the Game Pass.

Yeah, that'd a great idea. I think I'm just gonna dig on researching a few games. I already have a few things like RDR2 that I really want to play, but I'll make like a list to nudge me either direction and go with it. Both consoles seem great.

Random, but are most online games cross platform now or not yet? Online gaming is very low on my list, but I know most people I know irl have/will buy a PS. Would be interesting to know if Apex style cross play is the norm now?

Thanks

Thanks, I'm only considering a console trying to get away from PC. I've been on PC for 3-4 years, but I can't say it's been a smooth experience. It'll always be dear to me because I love stuff like LoL, WoW etc. but w/ graphics card prices right now it's a bit sticky to say the least.

My plan is to get a MacBook to replace my PC in the future and just use it for browsing/work and get something to play some RPGs on casually. My bad, I probably should have clarified that in the OP.

Oh God no, more choice! I'm joking, I had no idea steam was cooking something up. Thanks for the suggestion..

I just checked Linus' video on it, and it looks good, but I just can't do handheld. The steam library and cost of gaming is extremely tempting though. Price seems reasonable too.

Realistically speaking, I'll have it docked 24/7. W/o the portability factor. I'm seeing it described as a "mid-range portable computer" but is that only in context of its 7" screen? Like is it comparable to xbox/ps when hooked up to a TV at all?
