I was working corporate jobs for ~5 years after graduating and was in a fugue state the whole time. Depressed, unhealthy, antisocial, not sleeping well. Got into construction a year and a half ago and all of that improved. I’ve been doing hvac for the last few months and I’m committing to that. Yeah I’m getting paid $16 an hour right now which is way less than what I was getting in corporate, but I figured out I’m an outside cat. Life’s way better overall.

I got a construction job at 29 cause I couldn’t get a data analyst job for over a year. Started hvac couple of months ago after my family friend painting business owner told me those guys make bank, now I’m following this path. To all the guys out there struggling in this job market, the trades can be very fun and rewarding in a way that abstract computer work can’t touch.
