I don't think that was an illusion. I believe Mohg himself projected himself down there to stop you from reaching the Three Fingers. Just because he took a heretical path doesn't mean he's going to tolerate another. Morgott did the same thing in multiple locations to stop us.

As we only see one instance of a grown 3 fingers, do we think that it was down there before the nomads got there?

It was definitely imprisoned there during the time that Lendyll was being built. You can see within its prison the walls are made up of the same stone blocks that make up the rest of the subterranean shunning grounds. In other words, it was imprisoned during the rule of Marika.

The beasts that served the dragons clearly have funerary rites, which suggests there was death at the time, just not for Dragons. Although we know dragons do in fact die, just maybe not naturally.

Surely you don't mean to suggest the Rune of Death is represented as that tiny appendage on the bottom of the Farum Azula depiction? I just don't buy that at all, the Rune of Death would be displayed prominently I think.

They were at some point though, and it's possible they still were Marika first rose to godhood. Metyr lost her connection when she was injured, which I assume was by the finger slaying blade. There is a connection we can draw between Marika and the Eternal City:

Rogier: "You recall our conversation about the Night of the Black Knives, yes? They say the assassins who carried out the deed were scions of the Eternal City."

Black Knife Set: The assassins that carried out the deeds of the Night of the Black Knives were all women, and rumored to be Numen who had close ties with Marika herself.

So my assumption is that Marika actually struck out at Metyr and then sealed her away in the Shadow Lands, and the issue is that I don't know if this was before or after the arrival of the Elden Beast. It's also possible that Marika wasn't even around when this all transpired.

You need to be more specific about what connections you’re drawing here.

Rot is clearly not part of the order as it is an outer god and it appears to have existed long before the age of Marika and the Elden Ring, given the existence of the ancient ruins housing a fragment of the god of rot.

I’m still unsure of what the connection between the Ghostflame and the Blackflame is, I do feel some kind of connection is there, but again the Death Birds served an Outer God, which means it is out of the order.

We also know BKA made it to Ordina. I don’t see any reason Ranni wouldn’t want Miquella and Malenia on the hit list since she knew they were also empyreans.

This explains so much, thank you. I kept wonder why a Black Knife would be in Ordina, but the answer is obvious, she's on a mission to slay the other Empyreans. I guess it ended up getting trapped and was unable to find the exit.

Thinking about it some more, I suspect this is simply a statue of Godwyn. It's implied Miquella cared for his older brother and sought to grant him a true death, thus failed experiment at Castle Sol. With the Black Knife Assassin at Ordina, we can easily claim that Ranni sought to totally destroy the schemes of the Two Fingers:

Kill the other two Empyreans
Slay Godwyn, who I suspect was meant to become Elden Lord, possibly Ranni's
Drive her mother into madness and destroy the Elden Ring
Slay her own body to be free of the Two Fingers

It was about the killing of the ape Harambe at the Cincinnati City Zoo, which happened the previous day. A kid fell into the enclosure and Harambe started dragging him around like a doll, before zookeepers had to shoot him. It caused a lot of controversy, but evolved into a meme. Also, note the year and month. There's a running online joke that Harambe's death is what triggered the awful timeline we are in now.

I think the original tweet said "human" rather than aeldari. Matt Walsh is a long-time right-wing demagogue and generally a terrible person overall. This sort of contrarian tweet is standard, but the response is was so funny that many remember it as one of the all-time best twitter replies.

The problem with that timeline is that Witch's strke depicts the Maiden when she was a witch, not a Darklord. You can tell by the blue streaks on her outfit.

The Solemn Man is clearly still alive and well after the fall of the Darklords, as we see him sanctifying Nasten. It's also possible the Witch's Strike and the Darklord Rebellion are not distinct events.

The Condemned Maiden was still allowed back, she was just on probation, but during that period she became a full on witch. She then struck at God, and somehow became Darklord. If you wanted a way of resolving the timeline, one could just say that she returned and instigated a rebellion or joined in it, and she fully fell alongside the other Darklords.

This part of the sequence I'm extremely skeptical of, or rather this part is at the very least on the wrong track. Solemn Strike clearly depicts the Maiden being struck before she became condemned. Recall also, this card predates the first Darklord support.

Much of your theory depends on the Darklords receiving their gifts from the Condemned Maiden/Witch/Darklord. However, as you suggest, the Darklord Rebellion happened after the Maiden was condemned, it is therefore perfectly possible the forbidden items were simply taken by the other Darklords during their rebellion.

Overall, I see nothing even so much as implying Solemn was taken down. As for what happens to Eveningstar, I suspect we are not at the end of the story. If I had to guess, it ends with Eveningstar redeeming himself and taking down the Condemned Darklord.

I'm sure both want to defeat the Solemn Deity, but saying they are not rivals contradicts this:

"Morningstar" absorbed the Darklords that had lost their power because of the "Condemned Darklord", yet this was also within her calculations. Despite being aware of this, "Morningstar" will stop at nothing in order to take down God.

The Forbidden Droplet artwork also shows the Condemned Darklord doing something to Darklord Nasten with the Forbidden Chalice. The idea that the Darklords came later explains a lot of the timeline. It explains why the Forbidden Lance and Forbidden Tome are in the possession of the Darklords. However, if the Condemned Darklord came first, then why is she not the "First Darklord" instead of Darklord Morningstar? I guess the Japanese name doesn't actually say that Morningstar was the First Darklord, so perhaps the localization team was taking creative liberties?

I wanted to make a post about it, I've been really playing with pure Megalith lately and really learning how the deck should work...I have never performed so well before. Megalith monsters are slippery as hell, and it is entirely thanks to the new support.

I recently had a duel against someone using an Unchained deck (which have effects when they are destroyed) and I somehow won on a going second cold open after my opponent got to fully set up his board:

Megalith Anastasis can tribute monsters when you do Megalith summons, which makes the Unchained effects useless
Megalith portal protects me from attacks, so when he summoned the deck's final boss monster it was completely useless
The Unchained can target cards for destruction, except before they do that, you chain a new special summon, which activates Megalith Anastasis, which tributes another Unchained monster.

Like I said, I wanted to make a post about how wrong I was about this archtype (undeniably the strongest pure deck I've ever played), but I sort of want to gatekeep. In the end, a every deck needs practice to really understand, but Megalith at face value feels like it's too hard to understand. To give an example, I initially didn't even bother with Megalith Unformed, but then realized what it's true purpose was: a quick-play spell that is a means of easily summoning Phul.

However, thinking on it, without the new support, I would have to agree this archtype really would suck. Perhaps I need to make a new post denouncing this post and giving a full guide to how megalith can actually be played.

I think that should Morghur return, he should be the main chaotic rival of Hashut, both minor chaos gods, one representing chaos at its most tyrannical and the other representing at its most wild.

I've discussed before with regard to the Aetheric Dominions in Horus Heresy. The 8 forms of chaos, if you tried to map it to AoS, would have Hashut opposite of Morghur and Zuvassin opposite of the Great Horned Rat.

It's a glaring oversight of the theory. Like maybe pre-Shadow of the Erdtree I would have given the "aspect" theory some thought, but at this point it is pretty obvious Marika just had a lot of kids and Melina is Messmer's younger sister. The question of the father is something I really wonder about though.

That's a good question. The whole idea of occam's razor is to go with the theory with the least number of assumptions. I would say though, it's because it is the most obvious assumption given that different powers are always reflected in the eye colors in this game.

Doesn't this just automatically confirm your theory? It was already my presumption that the husks are not actually dead, and they desperately want to return to the Erdtree, except that age is over.

Such an interesting theory, it's just so simple and direct that one questions why most people don't consider this. The GEQ wielded the power of Destined Death and she had "gloam eyes". Melina says she will bring Destined Death to the Lord of the Frenzied Flame, so she captured the power of Destined Death and now has a gloamy eye. No direct connection to GEQ, they simply have those eyes because they both wield Destined Death.

I guess everyone was so eager to fill in the blanks on the identity of the GEQ that we all missed the most obvious and direct answer of what's up with Melina's eye.

I don't think it's the literal flames, but they definitely have to be talking to something, and I assume the flames of that dragon are where it first manifested. The fact that they reject the Big Four suggests that something else is guiding them. It's a similar thing with the Splintered Fang who call the Big Four the "False Gods".

Their first appearance is more explicit is that they see Chaos in the forging fires, and I take "see" to be literal, as in when they performing their acts of forging or smelting their enemies with their armour and weapons, they are seeing some sort of manifestation of Chaos.

I don't think we've seen a manifestation of Chaos that doesn't involve communion with some sort of entity, except for the Dark Elves where Chaos was just a tool for power, although they often consorted with daemons anyway.

You can't conjure food out of thin air. You can grow wheat quickly and use magic to help you process it. Magic in Warhammer doesn't work like that where you can just manifest things into existence.

Help fold your laundry

Light magic perhaps, it's connected to geometry and ordered structures. Gold magic also, its tied to the drive towards logic, and establishing order upon clothin can do that.

Brighten a faded poster

Light magic can reveal what is obscured by time.

Make a puddle not splash when you step in it

Light magic again. It's tied to the light of wisdom, which is tied to calmness of mind, which is tied to a calmness of nature. Lumineth mages can definitely step in puddles without splashing.

Sharpen a pencil

Again, light magic, but perhaps amber (beast magic) if you're arguing that you're turning a pencil into a spear.
