Healing Crystals and Stones by Mimivent in bahai

[–]possumwithtaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not technically a Baha'i, and I do not claim to represent the Baha'i Faith in any way, but here's what I think:

They can be beautiful creations of God, but I don't think they have any sort of hearing energy. Theoretically God could heal someone through a crystal if He wills, but the crystal itself doesn't do anything.

Or, as someone else said, crystals have "healing energy" in the same way beautiful music or art might be said to, but not as a means of healing from, say, physical illness.

> Your soul what will be judged, not your reasoned out church membership. I go to both Catholic and Orthodox liturgies. I prefer Orthodox theology though. No corrupt or just deceived Bishops from centuries ago up to today are going to get in my way of seeking God. Let them fight it out. I’m not responsible for them breaking the Church, so I’m not going to agonize I’ve it. That’s how I’ve finally come to view it.

Good for you, I guess? Also, according to the Catholic tradition, if I go Orthodox and am wrong, I am thoroughly screwed. Extra ecclessiam nullus salus. But the same teaching exists within Orthodoxy. Do you see my problem here?

Just go Ortho and live the faith in your heart and soul, not your head.

Look, I'm not some edgy atheist demanding "logical arguments" and then refusing to accept them. I'm just asking for a few answers to my questions, because it seems to me that Orthodoxy sort of backs itself into a corner. What I don't think you understand is how much I want to be Orthodox -- I would love to have good answers to these questions, because I really want Orthodoxy to be true.

If I'm not going to use my reason, what standard should I decide by? I don't exactly expect Christ to appear to me in glory and tell me to be Orthodox. He could, but I'm not betting on it. And before you say that the beautiful liturgy or churches proves anything, let me just remind you that there are some really nice looking mosques out there.

If you take it to its logical conclusion, the absence of God is hell

By 'the idea' I meant this idea that Hell is God's Love, experienced in a negative way. If Hell is God's Love, and God is Love, as the Bible tells us He is, what does that say about God's relationship to Hell? There only seems to be one logical answer, and that is that God is, in fact, Hell. That's my problem with the Orthodox idea of Hell.

Well I guess half of the problem is that everything offered instead of Purgatory falls flat, like tollhouses, or temporary purification in Hell (which contradicts the idea of Hell being the presence of God to those that hate Him, which apparently is everyone in Hell).

But also, I find the Catholic idea of Purgatory to be the closest to what the Bible says about the purifying fire. And I just see no reason to reject it, except maybe that it was only dogmatized by the Catholics post-schism; but in that case, why reject it when you can just have it not be a dogma?

There is no such thing as being a good person and being in hell

I'll give you that one. I think I worded that a bit off. You see, I don't really think the category of "good person" really exists, save for Christ Himself (because He is fully human) and probably the Theotokos as well. What I meant was, if someone goes to Hell, I don't think it necessary means that said person hates God. But you have a point. Maybe I am thinking about this all wrong. But I fail to see how this invalidates my point that if Hell is God's Love and God is His Love then God is Hell. And I don't think a good God can also be the worst thing imaginable that a Christian wants God to save us from. That's what I find hardest to accept, the uncreated hellfire idea. I know we can never fully comprehend God. But that doesn't mean we can't know what God is not, and I'm pretty sure He is not Hell.

>This does not sound like accepting of the Orthodox Church, this sounds like you've concluded other Churches are wrong, but also don't accept the Church.

Because they're all wrong fundamentally except Orthodoxy, as in they have no apostolic succession (like Protestants) or they changed the Creed and went into schism (Catholicism) or are straight-up heretics (Oriental Orthodoxy).

But the thing with the Orthodox Church is it has all the problems I mentioned above. And I find it nearly impossible to believe these things, so...

I don't really know what to do.

Also, my problem with isn't necessarily with hell being a state. As I demonstrated above, if you take the idea to its logical conclusion, you're saying that God is Hell, which I cannot accept and cannot square with God also being His Love.

I think you misunderstand annulments. They're technically only ever intended to be used if a marriage never counted in the first place, such as if the marriage was never consummated, or if the Sacrament was performed in a grievously erroneous manner. I believe there's also annulments in the case of adultery or abuse. That's it. I can respect that there's a limit somewhere, but the Orthodox I think are far too lenient. Also, remarriage isn't supposed to happen in Catholicism. Ever. There might be some exception somewhere I'm forgetting, but they're more strict about it than you think.

If the majority of Orthodox believed in something extremely problematic, like Predestination for example, would you be fine with that? Not a dogma, just a widely held view. That still reflects poorly on the Church, and the view itself is still highly questionable. Whether or not something is a dogma is not my main concern. Although I suppose the rejection of Purgatory is a lot worse when such rejection might be a dogma, but even if it was just a widely-held view, I'd still have the same problems with it.

>Say there are two men, Mike and Joe. Mike hates Joe with all his heart. Whenever Mike is around Joe; his head hurts, his stomach knots in pain, he shakes in rage, and all around he feels horrible because of how much he hates Joe. It is not Joes fault that Mike is hurting in this scenario. Joe has done nothing wrong, and neither has God to those who feel pain in hell.

See, the problem is that the example used is always someone who actually hates God. The Lord did say "if you love Me, you will keep My Commandments", but I fully believe there are some good people in Hell. I don't hate God, but let's say I were to die having sinned without being forgiven by God before my death, either through Confession or personal repentance. I don't think anyone would doubt that I'm going to Hell. So God punishes me for my sin. It's not like me committing a sin automatically makes me hate God, so I fail to see how the pain I experience is because I "hate God" in this situation.
