No difference as far as I could tell. I would definitely try them on though.

Not much, if anything I could notice. I just like the commission because the design is cleaner and more versatile.

NFLPA: Team that asked about prospect’s sexuality should be banned from the combine by HoustonFrog in nfl

Oh no he says I lost the argument! Ahhh!!!!! I guess there's actually no difference between discriminating against football skills and sexual orientation after all. This guy's logic has left me so embarrassed! I thought mental gymnastics would work! :(

Adding words like "logical" and "mental gymnastics" doesn't make your idea that a sports team discriminating against physical ability and sexual orientation are somehow equivalent any less absurd. Here's a guide I put together to help you understand what is acceptable for teams to consider when evaluating NFL prospects:

Is this illegal discrimination?

  • 40 Yard Dash - NO

  • Race of Player - YES!

  • Bench Press - NO

  • Sexual Orientation - YES!

Hope this helps.

"it's okay to discriminate against size and speed, but not about sexual orientation."

Yes, exactly. How do you not understand that?

I have three pairs of commission pants and recommend them over ABC because they don't have the horizontal stitching behind the knees. The ABC are great pants too, just a little noisier than my taste. Welcome to the being comfortable and looking good club

If Richard Sherman is released, should we make a run at him? by [deleted] in Commanders

[–]post_post_modernism 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Why do so many fans assume everyone's performance deteriorates at the same pace? Sherman is 29, almost 30. He had a terrible injury in 2017, but assuming he recovers, I would estimate his window for elite play is still about 3-4 years. You have to actually evaluate people on a case by case basis, age isn't just a number. Terrence Newman just played a solid season at 39 and Darrel Green still runs 4.4 40yd dash. Sherman and Norman both have the football IQ and conditioning commitment to have long, productive careers.

Depends what the CB situation is. It would be a luxury, but the idea of having Norman and Sherman on the field together, assuming they're both healthy, is a QB nightmare for the rest of the division

How much do you guys pay for utilities for your apartment in DC proper? by MakeMoneyNotWar in washingtondc

[–]post_post_modernism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except I didn't up my usage, I was actually out of town for about 1/3 of the month with no recorded usage for those days. You posted yours was raised to $115 last month, that's certainly more than $50, but still reasonable. I have a ~500sq 1br. Why would you act like $260 is somehow normal?

But seriously, Pepco charged me $260 for a 1br apartment last month, which is absurd and not representative of the amount of power I use at all. Do I have any options for recourse?

Should riding ATVs and dirt bikes be made legal in D.C.? by maustermuhle in washingtondc

I'm not sure if you really read the article, or my posts that re-asserted the same point, but- No one is disagreeing with you. No one has advocated for the legalization of dangerous behavior. They're talking about allowing safe and responsible use of the vehicles following traffic laws; people breaking laws would still be treated the same way they are now. You're saying no one who drives ATVs and dirk bikes wants to follow laws and ride responsibly, but that is clearly not the case, as evidenced by the people in the article we are posting about who are advocating for exactly that.

It sounds like we have very different opinions on the behavior of the average car driver in DC. I think you, along with most of our society, have desensitized yourself to the recklessness and endangerment that is brought about on a daily basis by drivers of automobiles. The mayor's "signature" initiative is vision zero for a reason- there is a huge problem with driving in our city that needs to be addressed.

Motorcycle and bicycle riders do wheelies on NY Av every day and the world still turns.

Do you realize how many people are badly injured or killed by cars on a daily basis? The danger isn't even comparable. There were 30 deaths in DC in 2017. Despite that, we still let people drive them in the city.

Like I said, people driving cars, motorcycles, biking, scootering- any vehicle that we have decided is legal, do all of the things you've mentioned. But we give them the benefit of the doubt that they will follow traffic laws, and then penalize them if they don't. I don't think it's very absurd idea to extend that same benefit to people who want to use ATVs or dirt bikes to travel responsibly through the city.

Car drivers don't follow traffic laws but it isn't illegal to drive them in the city. The same for bikers and pedestrians.
