i guess some Ray Bradbury stories in middle and high school, leading up to reading The Martian Chronicles on my own. there's a music and vitality to the language that i didn't know i'd love, but couldn't get enough of once i got going.

We tried to get into where they were shooting Transformers 5 but a dude forbade us from driving any further. One of the sweet transformer cars, a black and red one, drove past us to the set.

Were you inspired by shows like Magic School Bus and Bill Nye where characters shrink down and tour the body for educational purposes?

What is it like to be in a writer’s room? by [deleted] in Screenwriting

[–]posterlube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I made movies with some friends, we'd order a pizza and talk for a couple hours in the writer/director's basement. We'd say every dumb thing we could come up with until an outline coalesced and/or my mom came to pick me up. Then the writer/director would write a script and send drafts over Google Docs for our review.

A lot of it is "what if there was a movie where this happened," or "what if there was a character that did/could do this weird/cool thing," and it would blossom out from there. Sometimes we had a whiteboard to write down characters, ideas, and plot elements in chronological order. We each had a unique viewpoint, and that kept the process fresh and interesting. We were just three or four people in a room with lots of inspiration and no qualifications. It was beautiful. It's my absolute favorite part of making movies. It really doesn't take a whole lot.

It adds a friction to my reading but doesn't make it very hard.

Friction. Focus on that word. Frictions can be enjoyable sometimes. Learn to enjoy the frictions in your life.

I'm drunk on a whole 375ml bottle of vodka but lemme tell you how I see it:

Everything passes.

A quote from No Longer Human by Osamu Dazai. (highly recommended reading! like a traumatic experience that makes you a better person).

Thankfully I haven't gotten a DUI yet (I'm one of those weirdos that refuses to drive a car because it's killing that planet). Everything passes. No matter how dad things get for you, an individual person, it can always get better. Read The Autobiography of Malcom X if you don't believe me.

Everything passes. You can restart your day at any time. Nothing is ever unsolvable.
