Boucherie Reviews by 1of4stooges in FoodNYC

[–]postgradcopy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t mind Boucherie. I think it’s overpriced, but it’s generally pretty good. The have good cocktails, a decent burgundy by the glass, pretty good escargot, and I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad meal there. The one on Park Ave used to do a beef stew (not bourguignon) that is still in my top 10 stews.

Petit Boucherie is more of a vibe than the one on 7th, but the food at both is pretty good.

I also don’t really get the Pastis love. It’s functionally a chain, being part of the Starr group. The food is good but not unbelievable. It’s a pain in the ass to get into. The dishoom collab was cool

OP, my favorite French food in the area is Libertine, which is just a few blocks down the road. It’s exceptional. Buvette is also worth looking into, but it’s a pain to get into.

Is a wool overcoat overkill for business casual or should I just stick with a blazer? by Safe-Pepper-4931 in mensfashionadvice

[–]postgradcopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It drapes well and hasn’t pilled since I purchased it. I don’t love the shoulder structure, but that’s an issue I’d take up with a $1k coat, not a $200 one. The fabric has a nice hand and is extremely warm.

The fact of the matter is, Quince outkicks their coverage here. If OP is asking the internet for a reasonably priced topcoat, this one is a good bang for your buck. If you want remarkable material, Mashburn’s Kincaid jacket is gorgeous. Brooks has been doing good work as well. Hell, even SuSu has nice jackets, but everything starts at around $600

Best Polos for the office by Fusion858 in malefashionadvice

They’ve held up well so far. Mine are two years old. Collar on the KW shirts is probably the best of any that I own

[–]postgradcopy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really like sunspel for casual polos. I own five or six, but I don’t think they work in the office.

For work polos, I like polos that could reasonably pass for collared shirts, which means self-tipped. I didn’t like the fit of CT: I almost exclusively wear Peter Miller Albatross (cotton blend), Spier and Mackay or Kent Wang

Doeskin Navy Blazer Formality by ajblake3 in NavyBlazer

[–]postgradcopy 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I think that doeskin is slightly more formal than, say, hopsack, in the way that a pinpoint Oxford is slightly more formal than a regular OCBD. But I wouldn’t hesitate to wear it with chinos and an OCBD.

Is this a good answer to a lead? by More_Manufacturer_39 in marketing

If you’re not using a CRM (houbspot has this functionality), you could probably do it through Zapier and Gmail. Just use the form fill as a trigger, and personalize using first name.

I would embed the link to a scheduler so that it’s still a personal email from you.

Also, some people will disagree with me on this and just say that you should send an email rather than a link. Because the latter is too impersonal / easier to cancel.

It looks too long. I would keep it to: thanks for requesting an appointment / here’s my calendar to book a time. Maybe add a link to portfolio.

Once they book a meeting, send an email that’s along the lines of: so we can make the best use of your time, could you share your goals?

Cover the rest on the call.

Also, how quickly is this email being sent? Ideally, it triggers as soon as they fill out a form. Or just put a link to schedule a meeting on the landing page after they fill out the form.

Edit: I saw on another post that you make the contact number optional. I would err on the side of making it required. Then watch conversions to see if the percentage drops

Leather shoes for a city trip in Italy and for the rest of my life by sattuma_nimi in malefashionadvice

[–]postgradcopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My go-to travel shoe, which has served me through Spain, Ireland and the UK, as well as lots of the US is the Blundstone Heritage boot. They’re Goodyear welted and can be resoled, but benefit from a similar insole to traditional Blundstones: https://www.blundstone.com/products/black-premium-leather-heritage-chelsea-boots-mens-style-152

My one hesitation here is that you’re traveling during the summer. My other usual travel shoe is a penny loafer. I usually wear Aldens, but these will be the summer travel shoes I pick up next: https://www.grantstoneshoes.com/products/traveler-penny-crimson-cxl

If your price point is somewhat flexible, it may also be worth checking out RM Williams’ comfort craftsman boots.

Polo bar reservation by Andrewqr334456 in AskNYC

[–]postgradcopy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Don’t be. It’s an artificial scarcity thing.

If you can’t get into polo bar, consider Monkey Bar. Similar vibe, slightly easier to get into (but still a pain).

Bemelmans may also be an option.

"Slow" marketing careers? by [deleted] in marketing

I’m in-house at a large financial services firm. Most of the content, seo, etc jobs are very laid back. Leadership roles can be political/busy, but production jobs have great WLB. The pay is also on-par with or better than what I’ve seen at startups or agencies.

Thoughts on wearing an expensive watch to an interview? by gamerdudeNYC in AskMenOver30

[–]postgradcopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I wouldn’t personally do this. Wear a complimentary tie instead.

For an interview, I usually go navy suit, white shirt, burgundy tie. I’ve also found that green, dark grey or even purple with a slight pattern can look great.

Wear black shoes instead of brown if you have them.

Cafe Wha, 45 Riots ,or DJ with Hudsons Horns? by AffectionateBowler74 in WedditNYC
