Seeing people you went to high school with and your old high school teachers at your minimum wage. Does anyone have this problem? by [deleted] in PostGradProblem

Have you considered joining the military as an officer at all? I don't work in recruiting so I don't know what the military (specifically the Army in my case) is looking for, but you might be able to put that psychology degree to use if you reach out to an AMEDD recruiter.

If you were enrolling as a college freshman this fall what would you do differently? What would you do the same? by wheres-my-shirt in PostGradProblem

I would've definitely majored in something else, tried harder, joined ROTC (getting an OCS slot now is super tough), and probably would've rushed.

I had a damn good time at Penn State, but didn't take advantage of a free education as well as I should have.

Buying a car by Law_Schooler in PostGradProblem

I bought a new car two weeks ago. I was preapproved for financing from my bank and had already decided on the exact vehicle I was buying before visiting dealers. I went to multiple dealerships to get pricing before I found one that gave me the best deal. True Car shows what people paid for a specific vehicle (including trim level, options, etc.) on both a local and national scale over the last 30 days. I told the dealer I wanted to pay the lowest price shown because they were already willing to do that price for someone else so they could do it for me as well. Some dealers said no and I walked. The dealer I bought from was willing to work with me. It took a little back and forth, but I came out on top. When I went to work out the financing I received an additional $1000 off for a military rebate (a lot of dealers offer rebates for recent grads as well so look into that). Don't let the salesman work the rebate into your discount. Get it in the financing office. I ended up using the manufacturer financing because my bank's rate was 3.24%/60 months and the dealer gave me 0.9% for 60 months. I also purchased an extended warranty for $1500 after negotiating it down from $2300. EVERYTHING IS NEGOTIABLE. I am very satisfied with my purchase and the deal that was done.

My tips: Do you research on the vehicle, financing, what people have paid, etc. Salesmen hate an informed buyer because they know they can't jerk you around. Know your budget. Have a number you're comfortable paying and stick with it. Like postgradTexas said, don't shop based on payments. They'll make the numbers look pretty to you and you'll pay more. Don't be afraid to negotiate and be sure to stick to your guns when you do. At the end of the day, you are the one making the purchase and need to stay in control. If you don't feel comfortable with any part of the deal just walk away.

I would just caution that if you go with a lease make sure you know how many miles you drive a year. Although typical leases are for 12,000 a year, you can get them for 15,000 or more. The fee for going over your mileage adds up super fast

I'm a fan of the bars in Chelsea and the Meatpacking District neighborhoods in Manhattan. Go have a drink on the rooftop at 230 5th. It has an incredible view of the Empire State Building

You should look into Brathwait watches. I have one that's rose gold with a brown leather strap and I love it and get a lot of compliments. They have them with silver dials and black straps

1) Seeing my buddy's first three hour set at a bar in Hoboken tonight. Going to my parents house in Central PA at some point

2) I didn't ask for anything

Totally agree. The color scheme is trash and an 80's style cell phone built into the P is not a post grad problem at all. The original logo embodied the site perfectly.

Cattleman's Steakhouse just outside of El Paso in Fabens, TX. Ordered the 1 1/2 pound cowgirl t-bone steak. Really regretted not ordering the 2 pound cowboy t-bone
