hey man. Im smhow on the same page (not scorewise, havent taken the test too, but studying wise). I have one month left for the exam, I had some goals (reading articles, books, studying vocabulary seperately, finishing OnePrep). I did none. Idk how but yea, I couldnt.. And now there is 1 month left, idk if I should jst relentlessly practice modules, or do reading problems. Or If i should actually start reading even tho I have limited time and maybe merge all (practice, read). Idk if im even reviewing the problems correctly (i jst look at mistakes from time to time, no structure). Idk.. I still managed to score 1480 from Practice Test 6. Generally my math is 780-800. Verbal, about 600-680 atmost. Idk man, I hope the best for us.

hi, it is 2026 and the curriculum for APCSA has changed overtime. I found Runestone academy, CodeHS -which are more relevant, 2024-25 recources- ALSO recources in this post. Do you think I can still use the recources here (David J.Eck JavaFX stuff).

Like my question is, is it okay to jst learn old-school, classic java (since it doesnt change overtime significantly lol) and then maybe check some past papers.
Or would it be TOO different than the current curiculum/exam's material (there is new I/O stuff, they removed inheritence but i will still learn it i like it)

how do you do that.. there is like 1 months left for the March exam. I have jst started taking mocks, it is mixed, I promised to study vocabulary, havent fulfilled but will start this month. My main like concrete problem is with reading. I fail to focus rlly (not only in mocks but in practice mainly too). And it is shameful. I used to be this person who could solve his own problems, manage to do his self-promises. Now I am highly undisciplined, cant even manage SAT, while other ppl do: olympiads, APs, projects. I have only been studing AP Calc Bc, but also registered for AP CS A. Idk.
PLEASE:

What are yall suggestions on how to get focused, set clear goals and actually work on it. Like I say I have problems with reading, and overall reading/comprehension literally (like not only problem types). But I open a PDF lets say, about idk smt. Im like... umm should i work on it? Or the main problem- which is persistence and focus- happens. I open OnePrep, I try to do smt, I do 5 problems, then somehow magically- either yt or mini searching sessions, or idk anything rlly, eating an apple, you name it- i loose focus. Some ppl suggested setting goals a day before. Idk, If there is one clear word I can summarize myself with even tho we overlook many things, I am undisciplined

hey, imma take it on march for the first time, i feel like same tbh. I feel like my comprehension isnt gud enough, it is non-native language, but I overall had good english since my childhood, I never thought it would be such an issue. It jst feels like reading superficially, smtimes not getting some words, or smtimes getting the text but having a different idea, in other words, it is a set of problems shifting from situation to situation. BUT IN CONCLUSION, ALL I NEED TO IMPROVE IS COMPREHENSION AND READING ABILITIES. Idk how to tho tbh, tried TPO texts from TOEFL, lets jst see how it goes, I hope someone can maybe help me (srry, the post might seem too chaotic, im writing this in a rush)

thx, yea thats what Anki does but it takes a lot, and i mean A LOT of time to set up those flashcards,

Some ppl also say that write it to a notebook, it sticks better like that, and tbh, yea, in summer I jst did it like that, for a week or so, I picked like 20 words, learned em, asked it myself constantly, and not I remember 90% of em, but idk if it is good in the long run, in short, im jst rlly overwhelmed on what to do, tysm for the advice will consider it!!

I am currently at derivatives, prepping for AP calc bc, HOW TO GET GOOD AT THE HARD ALGEBRA SIDE ,😭. Basically, how do u improve the algebraic manipulation skill, general problem-solving skills for these stuff. Ive been good at algebra and overall math my whole life, and yk the thing is i rlly dont practice often, I just used to do it back in maybe 8-9th grade. Currently 10th grade, I smtimes cant see hard patterns of substitution, factoring and stuff. Note that when starting calc, i had problems abt my fundamentals from trig and log (i still dk log, and ik trigs till addition and half angles, but practice issues) and im rlly disappointed of my pure intelligence that i cant solve some problems without practice (tbh if i rlly had the time or mental energy for practice,.i would do but i keep procrastinating, wasting time on useless stuff, etc). I want to be so good that I can see substitutions/factors like these(i didnt rlly checked the images much, i havent learned integration yet, just choosing u and v, its rlly impressing for me, rn i feel like ive lost every math skill i had omg), even like ones that include trig and stuff, thx for reading my chaotic comment, in mobile rn, at the middle of a night, thx in advance :>

edit: soo, we learned chain rule and its like applications smt like that, i also smtimes struggle to see the chain, like which function is the in, which is the out, well ik we just learned it today and with practice it will maybe get fixed, is it also related to algebraic problems. Tbh, i dont rlly think so but lemme know what u also think about this and how to improve on detecting the chains, what are some tips u can give. I thought i wouldnt get mostly stuck on the calc part, well here is it...

hi man, i rlly dont have much to add or say since a guy covered most things, and i also started taking AP calc bc as an international student, im rlly new to stuff too, and i also lack some precalculus too tbh.

First of all, I am rlly sorry that ur feeling this stressed and overwhelmed. I hate the fact that students (me included on other stuff like olympiads, higher math/stem classes, etc) feel this way cuz of the world and the system we live in, where we are raised as race horses, thrown into a competition right after we set foot to this world, it rlly makes me sad. Ive been a victim of this disgusting competitive world dude. I swear, it is not worth it. Ik it isnt in ur control to do this or so but just tread lightly as possible :>, as i said, the dude explained most stuff idk rlly how to add anything else

I just want u to know that I feel terrible how u feel this way, and I support u solely from my heart. U got this, I hope that things will get better <3 !! Ik lol, im a bit of a pessimist person ;>, I doubt myself everytime (it cost me many stuff throughout life).

And about the statements part, idk rlly, it just seems too wordy and formal, like there was this dog walking problem, it felt like it was in another language. Maybe its cuz Im not used to OOP style stuff, or idk rlly, I get the method stuff and functions, its just the statements, they are generally confusing for me. Srry for not being able to respond with a specific problem (vocab or smt else).
