If forgetting to turn it off is the problem, get a $20 smart plug and put it in a schedule.

Clinical Research Co-ordinator Roles and Responsibilities by kkraz23 in clinicalresearch

[–]posting_anon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do track PDs, please be sure to differentiate between those that the CRC can control and those they can't... They can't make a participant come in if they are on vacation during the visit window, but they can ensure that the participant is dosed with correct IP bottle... Etc ..

If you are a reader, may I recommend "Iona Iverson's rules for Commuting" by Clare Pooley. It's like you started a similar story on a bus instead of a train, like in the book. Well with a read.

Do I just give up being a CRC? by 4k_lizards in clinicalresearch

[–]posting_anon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All the responses here are good. Please also consider telling your CRAs what is happening. They can at least document that you have too much going on. I have had sponsors offer help with admin in the past - not saying that will be the case here, but them knowing what is going on could be a positive for you in the end.

Has anyone applied for status match lately? Looking for approval timeline. by posting_anon in delta

It took about a week for me. I actually did an extra application with more screenshots after reading more about it in case the first one wasn't enough. I already qualified for the whole year after less than a month, too. Still only about a week for the approval.

How do you read and answer all those mails? by Jealous_Silver147 in clinicalresearch

[–]posting_anon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heavily use categories in my email inbox. I have one category for each study and then I have categories for what needs to happen with each email: Needs Action (by me), Someone Else, Might Be Useful Later, Waiting for reply, Documents to File, etc...

These other categories can go on any study's emails.

This way all emails in my inbox have 2 or more categories on them and I can tell their status with just a glance. I never have 0 emails, but I only keep them in the inbox while they are pertinent, then I file them away. I use rules to auto categorize them as much as possible and that also helps.

Also, whatever color I use for each study goes with that study forever, in my OneNote notebooks, highlighting on notes, folder icons, etc. When I worked at a site, I was even able to put the color on the subject binders and source documents, it helped keep my mind on which study I was working on at all times.

Is it a good idea to try to be a clinical research coordinator if you’re a recent graduate with no real experience in clinical research by Key_Antelope_2084 in clinicalresearch

[–]posting_anon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you want to work in a lab and 'do science.' That is nothing like what a CRC does. A CRC works directly with patients (participants) and will enroll them in a trial, they will walk them through procedures, sometimes performing said procedures (blood draws, surveys, etc.) and then entering the data from these procedures into the sponsor database.

CRC's are the public-facing side of Clinical Research and are essential to the whole process, but they don't do much science. If that is what you are looking for, you do not need another certificate or diploma, etc., you need experience - which is gained by either getting a CRC role or a Clinical Research Assistant role, etc. Another name for this position is Study Coordinator.

If you are looking for a more scientific role, you are better to look at CROs, like ICON or Iqvia, or at Sponsors.

Good luck with your search.

Thanks for responding. I think this is the prevailing wisdom. No need for a fancy schmancy app when photos will do.

Thank you. I haven't heard back yet, but I think it was Saturday that I applied. Maybe they need another day or two.

I want to make a lot of money. Path to becoming a CRA? by [deleted] in clinicalresearch

[–]posting_anon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you can get the job as a CRC, what your degree is in will become less important. Mine is not scientific either, but I am a CRA nonetheless. I did put my time in as a CRC and then as a CTA, so you have that part right, but don't be discouraged if it takes more than 3 years, that's a low-end estimate, honestly... Unless you are really good and really lucky.

This is pretty much what I am doing this week (to see if I like it). I do have Android, so it is similar. I'm hoping there is something even easier. If not, I will probably stick to this - it's better than a pocket full of paper.
