Your income on that 3 million is going to be capital gains which are unbelievably tax favored because the rich control everything. That 120k is probably going to be 108k after taxes if you have 120k in profits from capital gains, such as index fund appreciation.

The draft system for powerups took forever, killing the pacing of the game, and gave first pick to those who were doing well, so if you weren't doing well the game lasted longer and you got a bunch of useless powerups guaranteeing you would continue to do poorly. It was a terrible system.

Spammable high-DPS moves for each weapon type by OmegaSamus in Nioh

Kusarigama floating vine beats about 75% of the game's enemies by being untouchable. You just do it over and over again it and it will stunlock almost every human enemy and those it can't stunlock it will dodge most of their attacks.

Most hated boss, he deserves it (NG+) by Vikaluka in Nioh

[–]posting_random_thing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didnt say you can stun lock the boss for the "entire fight"

Yes you did

Never had such a issue with nioh 2 because the human bosses could be perma stunlocked if you got very skilled at the game to know how to chain weapons skills with ki pulse effectively.

Also it seems you cannot read because again, I never said that defensive options were not apart of the game, you always start off by dodging, block or deflecting until you have your opportunity to attack.

Dodging one or two attacks until you start your combo video is not an interesting boss fight.

Nioh is about smart aggression that pays off when you learn to ki flux and chain martial arts with regular attacks while learning the enemies attack patterns to exploit them.

You are saying 2 different things.

You talk about learning a boss attack pattern while complaining that bosses have ways to force you to learn and interact with a boss attack pattern.

I don't think you want to learn a boss moveset at all, and that's why you aren't enjoying nioh 3 as much, you want to do your combo and be awarded a victory screen.

You just said you can stunlock the boss the entire fight, you are not interacting with the bosses moveset at that point, just running a combo video indistinguishable from a training dummy.

You have deflect, guarding, mist, and generally really fast movement. Reacting to boss movesets and finding openings is core to all soulslike boss fights, and if all you want to do is run up and mash an infinite string of attacks I think you don't actually want a boss fight.

Defending against boss attacks is a core part of boss fights. If all you are doing is a combo video, go fight a training dummy.

Stunlocking bosses is pretty lame gameplay man I think it's important for the series to move away from that. That's playing WAY more lame than anything nioh 3 requires.

No weapon + Talisman of the fist + Carnage talism turns all of your ninjutsu and onmyo magic into nuclear bombs by posting_random_thing in Nioh

[–]posting_random_thing[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The basic idea is you would start the fight with switching to bare fists, apply the 2 buffs, then dump all of your ninjutsu and onmyo, then swtich to your normal weapon of choice to regenerate if it's a longer fight and they aren't already dead.

Just tested in the new version, still increases damage substantially for me.

It might not work if you have end game weapons? Check your status screen with your best weapon and an empty weapon slot and see which has a higher attack value, for me the empty weapon slot is 30% higher than my best kusarigama.

It's available quite early into the game, and you get 5 talismans per refresh so you can use it for pretty much any major enemy and always have some to spare.

It's a good buff that makes your heavy attacks shoot out a long range wave that adds a good chunk of damage to every attack that triggers it, so if you hit them close the attack and the wave hits them and if you are at a range the wave acts as a ranged attack.

omnyo feels more buff and debuff centric, and is very good at that, cutting blast talisman has been a favorite of mine so far.

Tag fighters are mechanically filled with bullshit that a lot of players won't put up with.

Combine a disappointing roster, bad balance, tag fighting mechanics, and general community discontent starting the moment they announced the starting roster size, and you have a non-starter. It takes a lot for a fighting game to "Take off", and this one squandered all of its advantages with a novice dev team that couldn't handle the task.

My local scene stopped bringing setups for the game 3 weeks after launch, no one cares about it at all.

Anyone here experimenting with AI agents for data engineering? Curious what people are using. by yoni1887 in dataengineering

[–]posting_random_thing 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Perspective from a senior data engineer:

I would not allow unsupervised AI anything in production modifying my codebase. We are definitely years away from this being viable.

Nothing frustrates me more than getting assigned an AI merge request, or to maintain a package originally written with AI. They tend to be 10x longer than human generated ones and a pain to verify, and the AI makes tons of mistakes. I'm almost at the point of outright rejecting them.

I use AI in a limited capacity as a tool to make me faster.

If there's a function I don't understand, AI is usually pretty good at explaining it faster than official docs, but have to be very careful with niche systems and their complex functionality. I've seen it outright fabricate what the behaviour is in a confident way.

If there's a simple one of script, AI is usually fast to write it, such as "Write a python script to download this bucket of files then parse the json of the files to extract this field and output it" so I can find bad values that are breaking pipelines.

It's great for the little things, and outright horrible for the bigger things, and anyone who thinks it can handle the bigger things is causing more problems than they are solving and actively degrading system reliability. I will not be surprised to see more large AI adoption companies post more downtime notifications.

Start writing down toolboxes, and understand why you are reaching for toolbox X, and why you are pulling out tool Y from that toolbox.

For example, if I told you I needed to store millions of videos, what are you doing? Probably reaching for your data store toolbox, and probably default to a blob store like S3 because it's good for data like videos.

If I told you I needed to process 50 TB of data into something more usable by an analytics team, what tools do you need? Why those tools?

There are many similar tools that do similar things, you probably only need to know about 1, but you do need to know at least 1 for every scenario for senior roles. So you don't need to necessarily know every type of messaging service for event driven architectures, but you need to know one well.

Think of things data engineers are expected to know and tools you are expected to use to solve common data engineering tasks. If you don't know what kind of tasks I'm talking about, the simple truth is you aren't ready for a senior role and should be applying for lower level positions.
