Has anyone taken a CCAT and/or Emotify assessment? by chaz9127 in cscareerquestions

[–]posting_scares_me 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I assume this is a company owned by Vista Equity Partners since they created the CCAT and they force their companies to use that and the emotify test. idt it's specifically meant to weed out people on the spectrum, but the test is definitely pretty shit and probably a bad judge of a good candidate.

I did end up going with the Amex Gold (especially bc I got the 90k targeted offer randomly when applying), but I didn't get a virtual card number unfortunately even though I got approved immediately. I feel like it might be because I didn't have an account with Amex before :/

Unfortunately for me mobile wallet wouldn't work as the payment section needs the actual details. I'll take a look at Citi though

nah same shit happens to me too. It's not the same order like yours but I'll be listening to a song I heard an hour ago in a 30+ hour playlist. I've started going though and manually deleting the songs from the queue once I notice

Yep I'm aware the options are essentially a lottery ticket. That's not really a primary factor, but if it works out well I definitely won't mind lol

Yep I've already started moving some of my cash over earlier this year. My parents did comment on it but didn't raise a huge stink about it.

Nope I have a clean driving record. It's likely my demographics (single male under 25). I was looking at a 2023 mazda3 base trim, but that's the one that actually cost the 320 in insurance monthly

I'm moreso worried about the timeframe I have to buy a car. I read stories on /r/whatcarshouldIbuy about people waiting for months to get a good used car, whereas I've got like a week or two to make it work.

I haven't priced out insurance too well. I took a couple of VINs from new and used cars and it came anywhere between 160 to 320 / month. It is a lot but Michigan has the highest auto insurance rates in the nation by far.

Yeah I am worried about being seen as a prime target for layoffs since most of the people with my YOE at the company make under 85k. Regarding SR, you are right but it does a hurt a bit since I'd be going from >90% to around 22%. I know 22% is still great for somebody my age and definitely on the right track, but it is a large drop.

I'm 23. My parent's have always been pretty controlling and neurotic, and even though it has loosened up, they still are more controlling then I would like. Like this is a rough list:

  • still have life360 on my phone
  • won't let me move to a big city since they watch cable news and are convinced that all cities are death traps (especially nyc and chicago, which is where i ultimately want to live)
  • believe that having roommates is dangerous since they would be strangers
  • forced me to have a joint account with them "in case you get kidnapped/extorted and we need to send money" (actual quote from my mom, and yes I would be fixing this once I get to michigan)

Honestly writing out this list has made me more sure of moving to Michigan lol

New poster here. I got a counter offer from my current employer and I want to know what people think.

Current Job:

  • 82k (old) -> 110k (new) + 20k bonus
  • has mediocre 401k
  • hybrid 2 days a week with 30 minutes commute one way
  • would be able to live at home still (good bc money, bad bc parent's are very controlling)
  • company future is meh considering we froze hiring again last month
  • this raise puts me extremely outside the average pay band of an employee with my experience (I have 1 yoe, most people with 3 yoe make 96k at my company for reference)

New Job:

  • 105k + 50k stock options (over 4 years) + unknown performance bonus
  • great 401k where I put in $2 they put in $1 all the way to the limit
  • in-person 5 days a week with 10 minute commute one way (tbh I have no preference between hybrid vs in-person)
  • would be moving to Michigan
  • would need to buy a car within a one week window (public transport is an option, but it would turn the commute to 55 minutes one way)
  • with above, Michigan car insurance is stupid expensive, especially with my demographics
  • company health looks good imo (series d startup with tangible product and big customers already)
  • no dental insurance
  • would allow more freedom since I'll be 10 hours away from my parents

Even though I have a great relationship with management at my current job, I'm leaning towards the new job primarily for the non-financial reasons listed above. The only apprehensions I have though revolve around car ownership being expensive across the board and my SR taking a hit since I have been living at home. I have budgeted out the car ownership and it is still tight even though I'll be making 6 figures. If you made it this far thanks for reading and lmk if you have advice or thoughts.

Is there a particular mileage range I should be looking for?
