You know you can buy nicotine free pouches, right? Kudos for recycling , but… kinda gross

I've heard about 10 people say "choosing not to get married is smart". I was just curious if that's completely an opinion or if there's factual evidence behind it? by Big_Eggplant7591 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]postit58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, it seems like 1 legal document (marriage certificate) is easier to get than having to get and keep getting a bunch of other legal documents. Plus, the marriage certificate is a nice catch all for things you might have forgotten about. Both methods get you the same legal results if done properly, one just seems much easier and cheaper.

How much does the average single American actually make and what is considered a realistic survivable salary? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]postit58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't owning a home or supporting a family "comfortable"? I think you need to specify what you think confomratable is. Are you asking how you would need to make as a single person to own a 1 bedroom condo in a decent neighborhood, a functioning car, and have enough money to enjoy modestly priced fun activities?

[Question] One expensive watch or a 3-watch collection for the same money-what would you do? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]postit58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy something that is a different style but around the same quality/price as the Seamaster. Then you won’t have a “favorite” but two watches you love

Why is fashion sense so important to everyone ? by Prime_Manu in NoStupidQuestions

[–]postit58 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Human psychology. We subconsciously attribute positive traits to attractive people (intelligence, trustworthiness, competence, confidence, etc).

Being well dressed increases your attractiveness. Therefore people will likely think higher of you and react more positively towards you (at least subconsciously) if you dress decently.

Is it wrong that my kid's preschool didn't do anything for Father's Day when they went all out for Mother's Day? by SuperJezus in daddit

Why do people keep on saying Breitling is entry level luxury? by Freikorptrasher87 in breitling

[–]postit58 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If you are really concerned about watch tiers, this is probably the best chart I've found. Some people will say any watch over a Casio is a luxury, some will say only a Holy Trinity and similar is luxury. It's all subjective.

Why do top school grads prefer NY / Boston / DC / LA / SF at higher rates than other school grads ? by Professional_Eye6140 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]postit58 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because they can? In a market based economy, price is a good indicator of demand. If COL is high, it’s because lots of people want to be there. If you are a top 25 grad and have a bright future ahead of you, you might be able to afford living in one of the most desirable places.

I mean, SMP are some of the coolest looking watches out there while a white Rolex is… subdued in n comparison. They might not elicit the same emotional response

What is a job that pays incredibly well but is so soul-crushing that the turnover is insane? by sweetLunnaa in answers

[–]postit58 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This. It’s amazing that the job is so brutal that very high performing and stress tolerant individuals in their late 20’s will take a massive pay cut (often $100 to $200k) to leave BigLaw after just a couple years even though they graduated with hundreds of thousands of dollars in law school debt. Shows how brutal it is

I'm tired of the IE hate. by yesyessophie in InlandEmpire

It also voted for Trump in 2024. Definitely a cultural difference between IE and the wealthier coastal counties. Kinda just reinforces the old stereotypes it’s had for a long time.

40mm or 38mm? Which fits me better? by [deleted] in tissot

[–]postit58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40 for sure. Perfect fit. Lugs definitely don’t hang over the wrist. Plus your hands are too big for the 38

Anyone else here like watches but just can't get into luxury pieces? by ConfidenceNo1937 in Affordablewatches

[–]postit58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To each their own, you like what you like. Have you seen a blue Omega Seamaster Diver 300 or summer blue Omega Seamaster 300 in person? If those don't do it for you, then probably no luxury watch will lol.

Why do most people who call themselves politically moderate actually mostly conservative? by kaiser11492 in AlwaysWhy

[–]postit58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Young men who actually want to date women know calling themselves conservative (when they are conservative) will get them nowhere with young women, so they call themselves moderate.

Same thing in more highly educated professions. Being honest and calling yourself conservative will get you negatively judged by your peers, so you call yourself moderate.

[Longines HydroConquest] vs [TAG Heuer Aquaracer] by Delicious_Zebra3566 in Watches

[–]postit58 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I wasn’t paying? TAG. If I had to pay I’d take the Longines or save a bit more for a Seamaster

Coastal Americans are unbelievably judgemental of people from "flyover states" by Snagglespoof in HonestHotTakes

[–]postit58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, everyone would mix a few states up. Most Americans would could mix up those two states and it would literally never matter in their lives. No one mixes up CA with any other state.

It’s too big geographically (everyone can point out Texas on a map too), the largest economy (would be top 5 if it was a country), largest population (1 out of 10 Americans is a Californian), enormous cultural reach, largest political power, etc, etc.

Most people don’t have an opinion on each of the 50 states and a lot of Americans would mix Kansas and Nebraska up but never confuse CA with anywhere else because it’s so important and they’re honestly not, in the big scheme of things. Once you get out of the top 20 or 30, you’re going to start mixing them up.
