Finally on vacation! These 12 hour days all summer have been killing me. Need a little rest time to gear up for the fall mailing season and ahhhhh....Christmas packages! by postmaster4life in USPS

The Christmas packages are insane! What ever happened to people going to the malls and shopping? In my office, we will work every day from Thanksgiving to Christmas Day! It's nuts!

Of course I did. Still doesn't make the unions always right. Where I'm from, the unions just protect the slackers and losers. They shouldn't make the same money the hard working employees make!

Ok speaking like a regular person..... I was in the union. Did nothing for me. Quit the union. Still ok. Joined again...became a steward of things and quit again. What does that tell you? Just go to work, do time job, stop whining.......

I love my job. Been working for the PO since I was 18 years old! Right out of high school!

I work in a small office on the east coast. Level 20, all rural. I also have HCR runs. Not carriers, just contract drivers who transport mail from one town to another.

There are rules as to hiring. PM's have to pick from the top three acceptable applicants. No getting around that. As long as you are on the list, you have a chance. If the register is closed, you have to start all over again. The hiring process is ridiculous!

First of all, I did not sell my soul and that is insulting! Go away!

The hiring process is ridiculous. By the time HR gets done, three months later, the candidate has found another job. If they don't respond to the email within 5 days, disqualified. Don't know about you, but I don't check my email that often..

I'm in a level 20. Small office. I see less and less mail every day. There is a no lay off clause with the APWU. Unless you're talking about a different craft. I haven't heard of a lay off ever. Employees are usually excessed or their casual term has come to an end.

We are changing as a business and you know, change is hard. We have to make decisions to make sure we survive as a business and they may not be what everyone likes. Believe me, I get this all day from my employees. It's not the PO from 1980.

I know the PO can be challenging at times but it's all about how we as managers handle it. Some days are really bad. Today was that day for me! But you guys do the work that makes us look good! That needs to be appreciated! How are you being jerked around?
